Both belligerent countries appear on this list (I‘m not 😄) … just to make a few things clear and this comes NOT from the scintillating tabloids. As Billy Joel sang … „it‘s a matter of trust.“

I stick to my guns: in the end, it is always the ordinary people who pay the bill.

One could follow the money back up to its source?

Russia has a large footprint of dark money and corruption.
Its not a surprise its efforts in Ukraine and Eastern Europe figure in Panama Papers.
Maybe there are some footprints of the Brexit Financing in Britian there too.

Russia expected its well-paid corruption network in Ukraine to assure an easy 3 day victory, and a parade.
No doubt they gave reports of great progress, send more money.
Ukraine is catching up to its traitors with help of EU regulatory requirements to one day qualify for EU membership.

Like the head of Motor Sitch who provided Russia with the best Helicopter engines to attack Ukraine with.
https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2022/10/29/in-ukraine-the-boss-of-a-leading-aviation-company-is-arrested-for-collaborating-with-russia_6002167_4.html

Russia's deep fear of Ukraine, Georgia and others joining EU was the anti-corruption measures that have to be enacted as part of process.

Russia also assumed its well-paid networks in Europe, would strangle any aid.
Then there is Brexit, the whole Trump, Tucker Carlson and his father's friends in Hungary working inside NATO and EU.

Of course, all this money networked through Oligarchs, contrasts with parts of Russia where water has to be lugged from an outside well, outside toilet etc.

Swiss bank employees indicted in connection to Russia president’s vast fortunes.
The charges stem from bank accounts linked to Vladimir Putin’s childhood friend Sergei Roldugin, whose web of offshore companies was first revealed in the Panama Papers.

Panama Papers source says ‘Russia wants me dead’ in first-ever media interview
“John Doe” told German news outlet DER SPIEGEL that he was “astounded” by the success of the investigation, but more needs to be done to clamp down on financial secrecy

COUNTERING RUSSIA'S KLEPTOCRATS: WHAT THE WEST’S RESPONSE TO THE ASSAULT ON UKRAINE SHOULD LOOK LIKE
Kleptocracy in Russia has thrived thanks to the complicity of advanced economies, who are now waking up to its dangers
https://www.transparency.org/en/news/countering-russian-kleptocrats-wests-response-to-assault-on-ukraine

""
Investigations such as the Panama Papers, the Russian and Troika laundromats, and the Pandora Papers have helped expose the extent of kleptocracy in Russia. The Pandora Papers investigations, in particular, have shed light on the alleged riches of Russian President Vladimir Putin – believed to be held for him by his inner circle.

These scandals have laid bare the reliance of Russia's kleptocrats on the global financial system – along with intermediaries, such as banks based in leading democracies – to sustain and increase their illicit wealth.

Everyone has had that day when you just wish you had called in sick...

Turkey's President Erdogan 'declares war' with Russia thanks to an interpreter's blunder in front of a surprised Vladimir Putin

Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan dramatically appeared to declare war on a surprised Vladimir Putin when they met today.

The Russian dictator appeared momentarily nonplussed as the interpreter mis-translated the Ankara president's opening remarks at a summit in Sochi.

'There is war between Russia and Turkey,' announced the Turkish-Russian translation of Erdogan's remarks.

It's too bad Erdogan didn't just refuse to acknowledge the mistake and follow through.

Himars - the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System - is a missile launcher mounted on a five-tonne truck which can fire six guided missiles in quick succession.

The missiles supplied to Ukraine have a range of up to 80 km, which is over twice the range of the howitzer guns which the US has previously given to Ukraine.

Himars can also fire a single Army Tactical Missile System missile, which has a range of 300 km. However I believe the US isn't supplying Ukraine with these.

The 50-mile range is roughly similar to that of Russian Smerch missiles, but Himars fires GPS-guided missiles which can be more accurately targeted.

Himars Spotted Them. Here's what happened next

Made a huge compilation of the destruction of the Russian army in Ukraine. Ukrainians are crushing evil. War is an abomination. Don't forget.

This op-ed is excerpted from Walter Isaacson latest book, “Elon Musk.”

Washington Post: How am I in this war?’: The untold story of Elon Musk’s support for Ukraine
...
A dangerous issue had arisen, and he believed there was “a non-trivial possibility,” as he put it, that it could lead to a nuclear war — with Starlink partly responsible. The Ukrainian military was attempting a sneak attack on the Russian naval fleet based at Sevastopol in Crimea by sending six small drone submarines packed with explosives, and it was using Starlink to guide them to the target.

Although he had readily supported Ukraine, he believed it was reckless for Ukraine to launch an attack on Crimea, which Russia had annexed in 2014. He had just spoken to the Russian ambassador to the United States. (In later conversations with a few other people, he seemed to imply that he had spoken directly to President Vladimir Putin, but to me he said his communications had gone through the ambassador.) The ambassador had explicitly told him that a Ukrainian attack on Crimea would lead to a nuclear response. Musk explained to me in great detail, as I stood behind the bleachers, the Russian laws and doctrines that decreed such a response.

What the Ukrainians did not know was that Musk decided not to enable Starlink coverage of the Crimean coast. When the Ukrainian military learned that Starlink would not allow a successful attack, Musk got frantic calls and texts asking him to turn the coverage on. Fedorov, the deputy prime minister who had originally enlisted his help, secretly shared with him the details of how the drone subs were crucial to their fight for freedom. “We made the sea drones ourselves, they can destroy any cruiser or submarine,” he texted using an encrypted app. “I did not share this information with anyone. I just want you — the person who is changing the world through technology — to know this.”

Musk replied that the design of the drones was impressive, but he refused to turn on the coverage for Crimea, arguing that Ukraine “is now going too far and inviting strategic defeat.” He discussed the situation with President Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark A. Milley, explaining to them that he did not wish Starlink to be used for offensive purposes. He also called the Russian ambassador to assure him that Starlink was being used for defensive purposes only. “If the Ukrainian attacks had succeeded in sinking the Russian fleet, it would have been like a mini Pearl Harbor and led to a major escalation,” Musk says. “We did not want to be a part of that.”

He took it upon himself to help find an end to the war in Ukraine, proposing a peace plan that included new referendums in Donbas and other Russian-controlled regions, accepting that Crimea was a part of Russia and assuring that Ukraine remained a “neutral” nation rather than becoming part of NATO. It provoked an uproar. “F--- off is my very diplomatic reply to you,” said Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany. Zelensky was a bit more cautious. He posted a poll on Twitter asking users which Musk they liked better: “One who supports Ukraine” or “One who supports Russia.”

Musk doesn't quite get it does he?

Firstly what is right about one country invading another?

Having a fair and honest referendum in the Donbas is impossible with the ethic changes that have been forced by Russia.

Any cease fire/peace deal that allows Russia to retain any invaded territory only rewards Russia and encourages them to try again later. When has Russia ever abided by any agreements they've signed in the past?

Maritime Executive: Ukraine claims to have destroyed a Russian submarine, in occupied Sevastopol, Crimea

Ukraine's military intelligence service claims that a Russian submarine was destroyed in last night's missile attack on a shipyard in Sevastopol, along with a tank landing ship.

"Significant damage has been inflicted and we can now say that the vessels are most likely not recoverable. Yes, today there’s good news - the destruction of the large enemy landing ship . . . as well as the Kalibr-carrying submarine, which is very important," said Ukrainian intelligence officer Andriy Yusov in a televised interview.

Official photos from the scene confirm that one of the vessels was a Ropucha-class landing ship, and it appears that the attack destroyed much of the ship's superstructure.
...
Russia's defense ministry has already confirmed that two vessels were damaged by the strike, without identifying their classes or names.

This was a USD $300 million Russian submarine destroyed.

Good job Elon Musk believing the Russian, and protecting them by disabling the first attack: "The [Russian] ambassador had explicitly told [Elon] that a Ukrainian attack on Crimea would lead to a nuclear response."

This is not looking good.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-66849185

Ukraine is suing it’s EU neighbours over food import ban.

It looks like Ukraine has a valid case and it’s neighbours are breaking EU rules, but hasn’t decided what course of action to take against them.

Edit link below 17 April so may be not valid for current case.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65292698

In return Poland will stop new weapons supply to Ukraine, will honour current commitments and still act as a transport hub for other countries. Sounds like they’re saying they are at their limit on what weapons can give from Poland and just a coincidence happening same time as grain dispute.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-66873495

Russia attacking the grains looks like is serving positively for them?
