Anything in your router logs?

Seriously, try my suggestion above. Enable IPv6 and enable DNS over HTTPS with Cloudflare. See if it reoccurs.

Also when it happens seeing you’re on a mac you can use “dig @1.1.1.1 trademe.co.nz” to check against Cloudflare DNS and “dig @10.0.1.1 trademe.co.nz” to check against your own routers resolver.

IPv6 is enabled again, as is DoH. Let's see what happens...

Nothing useful in the logs.

Can we have a screenshot of what safari looks like when it's not loading a page?

If you load an incognito mode tab when it happens (use Shift + ⌘ + N) does that load websites?

A troubleshooting step I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned - cut out the middleman, AKA Your Router, and configure your DHCP on your router to provide Voyager's DNS address instead of the Router, and see if that resolves it.

Could be your Router's DNS forwarding is failing periodically.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Three weeks with no failures. I might be tempting fate because last time I said that, it failed again a few hours later.

It just happened again... while I had a visiting friend browsing on another computer. I've now confirmed that the problem is isolated to one computer at a time (or possibly only this particular computer), so it's not a Voyager issue (both machines are using DHCP so should have identical network settings).

As I'm on a Mac I'm going to ask on a Mac-specific forum and see whether anyone else has run into the same issue. But it seems pretty conclusive that it's not an issue at Voyager's end or else it'd affect multiple computers at once.

Although I can still give this a go, now that I've eliminated DoH.

Yeah seems like the routers DNS forwarder or perhaps a switch having a meltdown (if you've got any switches - reboot them).

DoH is still reliant on the routers DNS forwarder but eliminates DNS (upstream) being the issue. To be honest, I'd ensure the router is on the latest firmware, take a configuration backup then factory reset the router / restore configuration.

I get this when running out of virtual memory on Windows, due to multi-process nature of Chrome browser some processes are suspended or crash of processes such as Network Service cause tabs to "disconnect" as if Internet access is lost.

Interesting.  I've been watching this thread as I was getting similar but on a Windows machine with Edge.  Unlikely to be related to Behodar's fault.  What I'm getting in Edge is on occasion it takes longer than usual to open a site and usually when it's the first thing being opened say, I'm visiting stuff.co.nz.  One oddity I found was I had a radio station streaming in a single Edge window with the computer otherwise idle, then when I visited stuff.co.nz in a new window I got the delay AND the existing browser instance that was playing streaming music instantly lost the connection and stopped playing the music.

In my case, existing streams and games continue to work correctly during the "freeze".

I've actually been noticing this for a couple of months now, primarily use Edge as my browser and on it all day as I work from home. Didn't think much of it, until recently decided to not use Voyager's name servers in my router, and I haven't noticed the issue for the last week since I changed it. 🤷‍♂️
