Never use a debit card for online purchases. I'm sure things have improved but I'm aware of a business owner continually being charged against a debit card repeatedly - the bank wasn't able to stop it, which meant every month or so organizing disputes. I'm sure some of this would be countered if the funds are $0 most of the time but still not a good idea. The account manager made it clear at the time this would be less of a problem with a Credit Card.
I also vote for Wise - you sign up for a wise account, pay a $16 fee for a physical credit card, then start setting up virtual cards for one off purchases. Also a good option if your bank doesn't yet support Google Pay.
