Hey @quic ,
What are the chances of a 8gbps connection just for a day or two, It would be great to get some more screenshots to send on to @michaelmurfy lol
I wonder what the limits of my little home network is.
Just FYI all - IPoE is now available to everyone: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=194&topicid=311869 (@godber).

Thanks Michael - I managed to move all three Quic connections I control over to IPOE remotely, maybe down for 5 seconds at each site. All of them are Mikrotik routers.
I cannot run a speed test on the Hyperfibre connection until tomorrow as it is remote and I turned the server I was using for the Speedtest off.
The only issue I had was a Mikrotik issue. I run dual connections on two sites with Prodigi. The dual connections are set up as dual wan recursive. With PPPOE I can simply use the PPPOE interface as the gateway. With DHCP/IPOE (or a fixed address) the gateway needs to be an IP address and of course I cannot auto propagate the default route or DNS as I need a bit more control. Anyway a simple script on the DHCP client of the Quic Wan interface fixed that issue.

Thanks, It still has some tweaking to do, and that photo ( I just noticed now) was before the hyperfibre install, as you can still the WAN on the 1gb eth, with the 10gb eth SFP+ ready to go.
Just need to swap a few more cables over and it will done... I try and use the colours for semi identification
Purple leads - WAN
Grey leads - 1Gb
Orange leads - POE gear
Blue leads - 2.5Gb
Black DACs - 10Gb
Need to pick what colour leads to use for the 2 boxes that have 10Gb Eth

Hi @JohnK, can you confirm that you can consistently get symmetrical HyperFibre speeds with your setup as I pretty much have the same hardware and yet with my service ticket with Quic they are angling towards the UDM Pro being the issue with upload speeds.
Cheers, Tim

Hey,
See two pics below.
Download drops a tiny bit compared to the upload, but nothing I am worried about or investing any time into looking at.
Note the two drop outs are unrelated to Quic. One Chorus fault (13th March) and I cant remember what the other drop out was (14th March)..... Silence @michaelmurfy haha

Thanks for this. Looks like more than possible with the gear. As you can see my Upload speeds are all over the place while my Downloads are rock solid.
I've tried setting up a spare machine with Opnsense to replace the UDM Pro but it became clear it was getting the same result.
Where the hell do I go from here??

@timwelch I would recommend either testing to Vetta Auckland or Chorus Fibre Lab. Ensure you're not testing any more than once per hour at most. Perhaps also try another timeslot like :12 of every hour to ensure that nobody else is running tests at that time.
I don't think personally there's an issue on your connection here. Assuming you're using IPoE on the dream machine you should be fine.
I remember one of @JohnK's outages. Something about the network requiring electricity and him even going as far as logging a fault because he noticed it went down remotely and being told by @Quic there is a power cut in his area. Amazing support from Quic IMHO.

Cheers @michaelmurfy - yeah, it currently runs against Chorus Fibre Labs :09 every hour. My gripe really is that I used to get rock solid and symmetrical uploads from Orcon and now I simply can't get anywhere near those uploads with Quic.
My work involves large Intune application uploads so upload speed is important for me and really the only reason I have HyperFibre.

I too have the same problem whether on PPPoE or IPoE Currently on IPoE.
See below download is solid but upload is all over the show, in fact more so than Tim as upload has been as low as 400 Mbps.
Test to Chorus Fibre Lab Server for the Last 24 hours
Test to Chorus Fibre Lab Server for the Last Week
Test to Vetta Auckland SpeedTest Server for the Last 24 hours
Test to Vetta Auckland SpeedTest Server for the Last Week
If anything the SpeedTest to Vetta is worse as it has never been above 1640 Mbps.
Note to @michaelmurfy only testing once an hour.
Hardware is CCR2116-12G-4S+ so that should not be an issue.
The one thing I have not looked at is how congested the Chorus fibre is. Will download the very large csv file and have a look in the next month or so.

Do you use any um "services" that are upload heavy in nature and may be saturating your line in an ad-hoc way?
I.e. if you're uploading to cloud storage at the same time the test runs you're going to impact the test result.
General browsing isn't going to impact the test result, and downloading files at that speed can often be done in seconds so may not be impacting the results.

Yeah seems strange considering @JohnK has nothing special as you've seen in the image apart from a very tidy network setup. Pretty sure he also says goodnight every night to it and gives it a wee cuddle. But generally from what I've seen performance seems to be really solid for the most part on Hyperfibre. It's also important to note that John's network is pretty flat in the scheme of things with only a guest network and his main LAN. I'm not sure if the Dream Machine Pro gets bogged down with multiple VLAN's or more complex routing configuration considering it had some history around performance in the past (doesn't appear to be fully offloaded).
Still however doesn't fully explain your one @godber but I can confirm that based on the IP address you're posting from doing a trace has you on the same BNG as John and I.
I wouldn't be too concerned if it's only speedtests that appear impacted and general performance otherwise is fine. As we've seen multiple times on here it should only be really used a guide as we've found there are multiple things that could impact it even down to your Docker networking configuration. John is running his on UnRaid. Reason I know this is I helped him set everything up and he is a close friend of mine ;)

And now as I swap out the UDM Pro for a PC running OpnSense I note that as of 6am yesterday the connection changed to a rock solid symmetrical 900/900 😒
