Hi
I walked into Noel Leeming yesterday and picked up the Wharfdale Vista 100 soundbar $99.
Hooked up to my Samsung 40 led smart tv UA40EH5306 MXRD with optic, working fine with TV on Freeview from Satbox (7090PVR HDMI) and bluetooth from phone.

Not working for Netflix streamed via wifi?

Any advice on how this can work with Netflix via wifi, as this is the main reason for buying the soundbar?

I am on the 1 month trail for Netflix, it is streaming fine on basic ADSL, Flip.

:)

Im guessing you need to change the audio output on netflix to stereo , it probably thinks the bar can handle 5.1 which it can't.

Hi Thanks for the suggestion.

In the Netflix app on the Samsung each title has option to adjust sound/audio to stereo, or 5.1 surround etc. Tried several titles setting to Stereo but still not working.  I have tried the Samsung tools TV sound settings including the external speakers option.

If the Vist 100 soundbar just won't work with Netflix, is there an inexpensive home theater option, that someone has connected to samsung tv and works with Netflix?

My cheap old Sanyo DVD home theater could be replaced.

Have you tried it with something like a chromecast and netflix to see if that works. I suspect it is a problem with the app on the smart tv.

There is a similar problem and solution here that might work?

Hi Thanks

The SPDIF Selection on the tv seems to be PCM only, but I will check again tonight.

Hi
No I haven't tried a chromecast, I will get one and try it.
The Netflix app on Samsung does seem a bit naff, and could be the issue.

It's sadly typical for some of the cheaper soundbars on the market. A lack of compatibility with some Dolby formats / audio codec used by Netflix etc.
Typically, you can fix it by setting your TV's audio output to PCM, or, failing that, change the sound settings in Netflix itself to PCM.

Problem solved thank you

The audio options on the TV seemed fine "PCM".  However, when playing Netflix and pausing, then checking the TV audio setting it was not PCM, when changed it works fine, no need to change anything in Netflix.  The soundbar is good, but takes a little getting used too after the built in TV speakers, so much more sound.

cool
