Ok, so someone broke into our secure apartment block in the wee small hours and removed my 65" 55kg Panasonic plasma from our basement storage area.

Ok, they were understandably in a hurry, so I'm picking they didn't notice the cracked screen and bent chassis (courtesy Kaikoura earthquake).

I would have loved to have seen the look on their faces when they eventually got it into its new home and turned the power on. Dead as.

Thanks for clearing my rubbish.

Doesn't sound like your apartment block is that secure.

Think of the harm you are causing, now they won't be able to sell it to fuel their P habbit, this will lead to further crime in your area, how irresponsible of you not to provide good quality goods for them to hock off on the black market.

You could plant some goods for them to take if/when they return.

One of my uncles, who loved playing practical jokes, lived in a dodgy part of AKL and his house got ripped off every time he went on holiday. He took to putting his electronics into hiding and decking his house out with faulty appliances when he went away. After his death, another of my uncles inherited his DVD player - which promptly blew the pole fuse when plugged in - it turned out there was a brazing wire link in the plug between phase and neutral - so my deceased uncle got the last laugh.

Edit; Spelling.

I was reading a story just yesterday about a shop owner that got his wife to paint a very unique picture on the back of his own broken iPad, then put the device in full view in his shop with the sign "lost iPad, is it yours?".

Within the first day, he'd had five separate people claim that it was theirs. People will try anything!

Very funny.

Those things aren't light or easy to move around :)

Sounds like your storage locker is a good place for all sorts of eWaste. I know of a couple of Rack Mounted UPSs that need disposing of...
