The Philips TV at PB Tech is last years 803 model.

Their 2019 mid range models are the 804/854, which reportedly are a step up from the 2018 models.

Dont know of any retailer with new models in stock.

Movieman:

Just received a Black Friday flyer from Noel Leeming, advertising Panasonic 65” 4K Pro HDR OLED for $3598. No model number though, so it could be the FZ950 from last year. 150 only nationwide. Let’s hope it’s the GZ1000.

EDIT: Just had a look on the NL website, and the FZ950 is described as 4K Pro, but not the GZ1000 ☹️

Hey Movieman,

The 65GZ1000 will be $4199 with a $400 cashback ($3799)  from Panasonic. The 65FZ950 is indeed the $3598 price.

If you decide on wanting one I can source it for you first thing just send me a PM

Thanks for your kind offer.

I do intend to buy a 65" GZ1000. I have a buyer for my present "Man Cave" TV, which is a 2016 58" Panasonic DX900U. It is a superb LED TV, but I feel that the time is right to "upgrade" to an OLED model, as prices are much more enticing than they were in previous years. My buyer doesn't want my old TV until early January, so I'm not in a big hurry to buy. I could wait for the Boxing Day sales, which is the sale that I bought my previous two TV's, at a better price than was offered on BF.

Part of the fun of buying a big ticket item, is to visit the various stores, and have a good haggle over prices, or maybe have something else thrown in at a great price. I do intend to buy the Panasonic DB-UB820 UHD player as well, so maybe I'll be able to get a good bundle price. As I say, time is on my side.

I haven't bought a 4K UHD disc for quite a while. I prefer the ease of use of iTunes movies on my Apple TV 4K, and the much improved Netflix offerings in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Why would I need to buy a new 4K UHD player? Well, I have sold around 15 titles on Trade Me, but I still have 80 Titles, and plan to add some of the blockbuster releases, such as Joker.

Noel Leeming BF TV deals also include the 55" GZ1000 ($2939 after cashback), 55" LG C9 ($2788), 65" LG C9 ($3999). The LG's have had a massive price cut, and I now have another possible 65" TV option. Happy Days πŸ˜„

At these prices, I am now leaning toward the 65" LG C9. I won't have to mess about claiming a cashback (always wary of cashback promotions), I will be getting one of, if not THE best OLED TV of 2019, with the best operating system (WebOS), and built in Google Assistant. Granted it will cost me $200 more than the Panny, but with my haggling skills honed, I reckon that I can do even better.

In answer to the OP. The 55" LG C9 is now at a new low price level, and will definitely be a great option for you at $2788. Good Luck!

The C9 also has built-in AirPlay - can be very handy depending on your circs. We have a C9 65” and it’s very good.

I'm sure someone will correct me if this info has changed, but I've asked about this on other threads and been clearly told GA doesn't work on LG TVs in NZ, so perhaps don't count GA support as a feature.

OTOH, I understand GA is supported in NZ on the Panasonics.

I too will be choosing between the C9 and GZ1000; if the prices are similar to the current offers when I finally get around to having the money to buy a new TV, it's going to be a hard decision!

You are correct. On the LG NZ website, it states that Alexa is built in. I knew it was one of them πŸ˜„

Great prices on the OLEDs. Under 4K for a C9...WOW!!!. Even the older 77" EZ1000 for around 8K...bigger WOW!!!!!. The time is right for those sitting on the fence regards purchasing an OLED. Im currently using a C7 OLED and 2 years later im still a happy guy.

I'd say at these prices to go 65" if budget allows and you are sitting greater than 2m away from your TV, especially since you are downsizing 58" > 55".

I sit at 2.5m and 55" might as well be 1080p for me, it sucks for immersion when watching movies.

Out of interest, what made you choose the GZ1000 over the C9 with prices being so close?

I was just letting anyone who was interested, know what the price of the 55" GZ1000 is at. Mainly aimed at the OP.

I actually purchased the 65" Panasonic GZ1000 today, from Harvey Norman, after also haggling at Noel Leeming.

HN had the GZ1500 and LG C9 side by side. As the GZ1500 is identical to the GZ1000, except for its improved audio; it was a good comparison. TBH I just couldn't separate the two for Picture Quality. I got the TV for $3627 after cashback. Plus Monster Screen Clean 3.0 ($39.95) for free, and a written 30 day price promise to cover any price adjustments including Boxing Day sales.

Another factor in buying the Panny, was that the wall bracket that I already have, will fit the new TV. Whereas I would have had to buy a new one for the C9.

I don't usually buy the product care, but in this instance, I was offered 48 months after original 12 month warranty finishes, for half price, after telling the salesman that I wasn't interested at the original price. So, I'm a very happy camper, and I'll have my new TV on the wall of my Man Cave on Monday 😎

My bad, misread your post as you saying you were going to buy it.

Sounds like you got a good deal, you weren't lying about haggling haha. Enjoy your new TV!

I'm also gonna infer from them offering price-protection that it is most likely that this is as cheap as it will go.

I was a little worried that I would regret buying now, instead of Boxing Day; but the price promise set my mind at ease. Noel Leeming also offered the same price promise when I was negotiating with them.

I am in a similar boat to the others in this thread WRT a 65" OLED. So the LG C9 from NL or the Panasonic QZ1000 from HN are the best options, and just make sure I get a 30 days lowest price guarantee?

Harvey Norman also have the C9 at the same price as Noel Leeming.

After years of "negotiations" at several appliance stores in Christchurch, I have always squeezed the best deal out of Harvey Norman. But try them both, you may be surprised at how good a deal that you can get.
