A sad day for Auckland Home Theatre equipment buyers - Stereo World (Dominion Road, Mt Eden) have a phone message saying they have gone into receivership.

These guys were excellent as they knew their stuff and had good pricing.

:-(

Yes, this is sad news. You could usually get top quality equipment at a fair price. Sorry to see them go.

As someone who has bought the majority of my stuff (and for family as well) from the blue building the above saddens me, I feel particularly for the knowledgable and helpful staff.  Hopefully it will rise from the ashes.

I would imagine the warranty company that gladly took your money on a 'sure bet' Wink

The only people who will be cheering this will be the Auckland CC who hated this lot because they wouldn't buckle down the the ACC PC view on how  businesses should paint their shops.  Remember the ACC raid on the place a year or two ago where they repainted  and removed signage from some of the shop..

Ah this sucks. I went to their store today to buy a Plasma and read the notice on the door.

Does anyone else know of a similar store with decent prices?

Maybe the Appliance Warehouse but laterly some of their pricing has not been the best..

Did a bit of a mission today for a 42" Full HD Panasonic Plasma.

Appliance Warehouse was a waste of time, only had a few old secondhand TVs.

Went to Lim Electronics. Nice chatty guy, reasonably competitive prices, fairly similar to what JB Hi Fi are offering on their 'best price' around $2,650.

Even though Bond and Bond are offering a 5% - 25% discount on TVs, with no fine print on their instore ads. Some how the TV that I want isn't included.

Surprisingly the best price was at Harvey Norman. $2,600 after lying about the price I could get elsewhere.

Does anyone know of somewhere else I should look?
