Has anyone had any joy with this?  I've tried the TV Pack on vista before and after patching and also tried MC in the Windows 7 Beta and scheduled recordings are ignored irrespective of whether a series or once off recording.

Note, I only have FTA.  I suppose I probably should have tried all channels rather than just 7 and 9 to see if it was particular to these channels.  While in the UK I was using the TV pack and it worked.  So perhaps it's more the guide data the networks are issuing here.  Which begs further question:

What is missing in the Australian FTA guide that tells MC to start and stop recording?

I've since gone back to Vista pre the TV pack, but like some of the new features such as colourising the guide and when the FTA guide works, it's great as it picks up when to start and stop recording from the guide - i.e. no need to worry about padding.

Same in-stream guide problem here in Hong Kong on both TV Pack 2008 and Win7, even after applying the December TV Pack patch:

  • Recordings terminate early with error msg "Recording of xxxx began as scheduled on xxxx and stopped early on xxxx when a conflicting recording was scheduled" when there are no conflicting recordings (totally reproduceable for me - always the first show to record after 7am.)
  • Series recordings randomly 'migrate' to other shows/timeslots on the same channel.
  • Overnight the guide is partially trashed for the next 24 hours - i.e. holes appear in the guide and are only filled again as each show screens.

Running TV setup again fixes the guide for the next 24-48 hours and then it starts to go downhill again.

My theory is that all these problems are something to do with the guide mis-identifying shows each time whenever new in-stream EIT data is merged in overnight.

There's a new Feb 09 Cumulative Update for VMC out.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960544

Doesn't look like it addresses our particular issue - but you never know.

And in related news, I've been trying to cut over to MediaPortal in an effort to get reliable recordings. And guess what?! TV Pack appears to break MediaPortal's ability to change channels and record/timeshift. Sigh. It's like a bad smell you can't get rid of! Still better chance of a fix over there because the same problem is evident in Windows 7.
