anyone up for a sweapstake on how long till the new xbox 360 is hacked - i.e full media centre and 100's of GB harddrives? Linux maybe?

I give it a week.

it is already a media center whether you use MCE or not. and with the harddisk. it is very likely that >20GB options will be available.

And as for the Linux, that may take a while for the kernel to be converted to operate in the custom 3 cores PPC instructions.

I heard that you cant play video files unless you have MCE. It also looks like you are not able to store all of your media content on the x-box, you have to stream it from a PC.

Morbid1: I heard that you cant play video files unless you have MCE.
The Xbox 360 works as a MCE Media Extender, so it needs a Windows XP Media Center Edition.

More important - How long will it take for MS to make the product stable? Users are already reporting extensive crashing. I guess that is MS for you.
