Welcome to the south polar region :)

But hey, there are places in NZ where you can walk from the East coast to the West coast in aboot 20 min, try doing that in Canada!

I've always wanted to have enough money to buy that land and link the East and West coast.
Then we have another Island in NZ. Hopefully I'd get naming rights :)

Imagine how much money you could make charging people to cross your bridge!

AFAIK in NZ you only own the top 30cm of your land, so you probably would only get 'development rights' for that canal after committing to a free bridge any.

An NZ 'suez' canal however would probably make you some coins by _adding_ a service to shipping/yachting that cant go under the bridge?

Banana?

Coincidence - both those roads are called Portage Road.

Cool.

Oh, and Welcome to New Zealand.

They were apparently both traditional routes for Maori to shift canoes from one body of water to the other.

I always knew about the Otahuhu one but the New Lynn one was new to me!
