After several decades working with IT I still find there is stuff I don't know.  So thanks for providing a nice forum for asking those difficult questions.

For those taking notes I started in IT when Digital Equipment Corp was a big player and before IBM had even considered making its first PC.  I've worked in Wellington, Auckland and am now based in Christchurch.

Currently I'm looking for a manufacturer of dial up modems with serial connections.  I used to buy the USR product but it seems Renaissance has dropped the brand in NZ.  I've tried Netcomm's offering but it doesn't work as well so anyone know of any other options I'm keen to hear from you.

Any particular reason you need to stay with such a "knives and bearskins" approach,
Would such a device be likely to continue to function on UFB??

Thank for your quick response. The specific application is for low volume datafeeds (text only), from some old serial devices. Broadband is not required, USB is not an option and some of the locations are way outside your typical urban areas.
