Hi All

Yes, well I?m one of the unfortunate people who is being effected by this prolonged Officemail outage. As of about 5pm last night I have had no emails for our domain since about midnight Tuesday.

After many hour on the phone to many people at Telecom I was told the problem (a software update that had gone awry ? this is at odds with what was posted to the ?Broadband service status? page this morning) was fixed and we would get all our backlog of emails delivered overnight. We have several user accounts on our domain and we where missing I guess about 300 emails. Over night we had seven current emails and two plain text spams (we never get these) delivered ? nothing from Wednesday or Thursday and nothing more delivered this morning.

Checking my case # on Telecom?s case tracker at 11.30 am still shows ?Status: In Progress? ?Last Telecom Action: Wed 31st Oct 3.13 pm?. I would rate Telecom?s service and support about 2 out of 10 at the moment.

I think I will be looking around for somewhere else to host our email accounts ? any suggestions? ? the problem is that we might be jumping out of the fry-pan into the fire as experience over the last 12 years has shown me none of the major ISP?s have an exemplary record when it comes to uptime. With the hardware and software we have today there is no excuse for capacity, failover or backup problems.

I wonder how long the backlog is and what they are running hardware/software wise? We are using Smartermail and a single spooling server can probably process 5-10,000 per hour (and that is just normal background processing, if we wanted to ramp it up with faster drives and more RAMP/CPU I'm sure it could go far beyond that).

Hi all

I am now not confident that I will receive any backlog email, I have been in contact with both a client and fellow colleague this afternoon, both telling me they have received 12 hr NDR?s within the last 24 hrs for emails they sent to me. I would think a large percentage of my incoming mail has been dropped! I have only recieved two emails in the last eight hours, both from Geekzone.

This has been very serious for a couple of my clients, both with small lawyers practices, with domains hosted at Telecom, using Officemail, and setup by previous support people.

In the case of conveyancing, it's caused some serious issues for them - deals and business has been lost. It took at least 1-2 days before  the Telecom status page even mentioned this problem, and it's taken far too long to be sorted. Test messages I sent  to them over the last three days through send.xtra.co.nz have all bounced back a day later as undeliverable. You'd think Telecom/Yahoo mail would somehow get through to another Telecom branded mail service if these people even talked to each other? Was Officemail handed over to Yahoo also, or is it in house with Telecom?

I don't feel Telecom have truly taken this seriously enough. I'll be recommending they go for compensation, and will be shifting them to hopefully a more reliable mail system.

It would be a queue in the 100's of thousands not the 10's.

I sent someone who has domain based their email hosted with them an email on friday, and it has just bounced back now 24 hours later to say that the "message expired for domain ..." So looks like they still have problems.
