ok, I got the nokia 2118 - Not happy with any of the ringtones I bought one from the xtra mobile browser thingie. Anyway, the phone does polyphonic ringtones, the store sent me a monophonic one, similar to what I had on my 6110 all those years ago, except the phone cant really even play it properly since its got a polyphonic ringer in there.
Does the 2118 support getting proper ringtones at all? Should I bother trying to get a refund from telecom on the 2 tones I bought?
The Nokia 2118 supports Polyphonic ringtones........ here is the bad news....
The xtra site delivers a mono tone via 3 x SMS messages to the handset using the generis //SCKL format as all the Nokia handsets support them.. My 6275 even supports the old mono tones though it would be delivered a midi if it were to browse.
You can cable midi's in but I lost my hacked drivers (which also supporeted sms management from the Nokia suite) when I lost my old pc, otherwise I'd load some in for you.
I remember when the Hyundai tx95c FIRST came out - I think the first PXT TCNZ phone - My dad went and brought 4 all in one bang for the family and I remember back then you could go onto the ringtone service and download a polyphonic ringtone for say $2.99 when you had $3.00 credit - and as long as you didn't disconnect the connection to the server you download unlimited ringtones/wallpapers/games.................
Boy that was fun................shame you can't do it now.
