Hi

I have updated my Defy to Cyanogenmod 7.2 Jordan and it has been a great improvment until we started holidaying at Kuratau on Lake Taupo. Mobile broadband is terrible where previously it was ok. Now it connects sometmes, but the majority of the time it will not transfer data

I am wondering if this maybe due to baseband selection as there is not one for NZ. I initially used Telestra 2.26 850/2100 and then tried America T-mobile 3.42-107-9 which worked ok for awhile but is now not working either

Can anyone recommend a baseband that works better? Are there any other settings i need to change to make it work better?

Thanks

Have you tried flashing stock back on as you may have borked your radio so it doesn't support 850 anymore.

don't know much about defy's but try this link as it seems you can switch reasonably easily given you are rooted.

Thanks Jeff. I have installed the baseband changer and I am giving the international 850/2100 rt 2.5x version a go. Fingers crossed!

The baseband switching tool was rolled into CM7.2 from memory. Both International and Telstra worked for me on 850. I only remember switching around to get better battery life. Sorry don't have my defy any more so going by memory.

Many thanks for all the help. Data reception is still very hit and miss. Last night I couldn't get any connection on my defy or my wife's untouched mini defy, but this morning it is ok. I am now putting it down to something has changed with telecoms coverage for kuratau, the weather, or overloading

When I get home, I will reload the telecom image back onto my sd car, so I have that as a plan b next time
