Hi,

Just wondering if was possible to assign myself a static IP without upgrading to a Pro plan (am currently on adventure). Whether through router settings or whatever

Basically I need to login to a website, and the security of the website is done so that it is set to accept certain IP addresses

Thanks

If you are a telecom customer you can have a static ip address allocated no matter what plan you are on, th ehigh end plans get it as a matter of coarse the cheaper plans like go, go express etc you sign online however there is a surcharge. Just go to telecom.co.nz/staticip

You'll find that you are not able to assign yourself a IP address.

You can get a static IP address through Xtra, however there is a $20 per month charge associated with it with the lower end plans. Given that you are already on the adventure plan, it may be better to consider upgrading to the Pro plan which has a better data allowance, full speed upload, and a free static IP address.

yea, thats what i was planning on doing if there wasnt any alternative.

so i assume if you assign yourself a static IP under windows' LAN properties that telecom overrides this?

You'll probably notice no data transfer, particularly if you are connected through an ADSL router.

Network Address Translation implementation in router rewrites the private IP addresses. Google NAT and have a read.
