Yeah im ADSL+2 in the Hawkes Bay and i was watching in i usually do not run twitch in HTTP because its unwatchable specially in Source so i run either Livestreamer or Tardsplaya which allows me to watch streams in source mode, now they buffer even in High.

The few streams I tried to watch over the weekend were buffering, had to watch them on medium. Usually I can watch two streams on high or source at the same time.

Just wanted to chime in on my experiences as well;
Twitch.tv at peak times seems to stutter for me as well (audio/vid buffering), on my VDSL connection. Little to no problems off-peak.

Yeah its really noticeable around 8pmish as of right now its great im watching a source stream at full screen and no buffering at all so its definitely a traffic issue come peak hours.

The weird thing is other services don't seem to be affected (those that are latency-sensitive like online games)... Just twitch from what I've gathered.

when then that points to the issue not being a spark issue but an issue somewhere along the route to twitch or twitch its self

Still pretty bad for me, can't really watch Twitch anymore, it's been maybe 5-6 weeks now I think.

I know there are lots of other threads related to DNS and international speeds popping up at the moment, but I get the feeling this is something else as it started before all those.

Hopeful someone at Spark might be a Twitch fan and could help troubleshoot or do some testing, if it is related to international routing or Twitch's CDN or whatever would be nice to get that confirmed, but maybe it is something Spark could fix :)

just for a laugh i have 3 twitch streams all on source open on my Spark VDSL connection, havent had any issues with buffering.

just did the speedtest to sydney while streaming and the streams buffered a tiny bit then recovered

i dont know where the issue lies but it seems to not effect all customers

edit: also have a 1080p HD video from youtube going as well

Getting the same issues on Spark VDSL

Around peak times most streams aren't watchable without it buffering every few seconds even on medium to low

Around midnight everything comes right and I can watch on source without any issues

Interesting! That gives me some hope that this might be something Spark can resolve. I too used to be able to have multiple Twitch streams open at Source quality with no dramas.

I know there will be many things in between me and that content, backhauls, transparent proxies, caches perhaps something from the matrix.
If Twitch is working great for some Spark customers and not others, hopefully this is something that can be troubleshooted.

I have 30/10 Mbps fibre in Wellington, using ethernet (not WiFi!) Spark DNS - would be more than happy to act as a Guinea Pig for testing/troubleshooting if that would help. Has been perfect for months and only recently started to buffer like a crazy thing. I can try and watch a Twitch stream which is terrible, then watch YouTube in 1080p flawlessly, or Netflix in HD with no problems, so something specific to my connection/routing/magic to Twitch seems to be the problem.

I honestly dont know what it is, as i dont have issues with streams. I have 3 streams going at the moment, all on source and no buffering.

maybe its a localised issue?
