hi, hello


Me and my friend have decided that the current procedure Telecom use to transfer credit from one prepaid phone to another on their own network isn't working..
Like today, i wanted to transfer the credit off my Nana's old phone (its broken and she gave it and the credit to me) but the lady on the other end of the phone at Telecom said that i needed to "report my phone as broken, and bar it", (not that it worked anyway??) and to do this she had to ask me a million questions, like my name, address, home phone number and to put a password on it. So the credit is transferred over to my main phone now, but don't you think this is a bit much JUST to transfer $8??


In Australia, on Telstra (and in Ireland too i'm told) you can send credit i think through your wap browser on your phone! no need to ring costumer service! why cant Telecom have something like that? its not like they're losing money?


what do you guys think? :/ 


and hopefully someone from Telecom? =D

Ok, Telecom do not allow you to transfer a nominated amount from one prepaid account to another. Telecom do however allow you to transfer all of the balance from an unused prepaid service to another prepaid service or Postpaid account.

Telstra offer this as a service (is it called Credit Me 2 You or something similar?), so this is not exactly the same.

AFAIK VFNZ for example, don't allow this, but someone like Johnr would be able to confirm.

It's not stupid at all :) Telstra offer this as an above the line service, Telecom do not, I would assume due to the amount of work it takes and isn't automated.

No NZ carrier offers this btw.

i know, witch sucks :( they could atleast make it easyer to do it trough costumer service, like they have t go and ask their supervisors and they say no its like COME ON =_=

Telecom Stores and Dealers are also able to request this on your behalf.

I would suggest sending though suggestion via the link below if you feel it's something you would like to see offered to Telecom Prepaid customers.

Security is one of the reasons I would think - nothing to stop anyone calling up knowing your number and just transferring your credit to their number otherwise, is there? And I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want that.

Regardless of that, there are too many obstacles (both technical and otherwise) to have this happen.

Yes it is possible.

No, Telecom are not going to do it. It's either all the balance, or none.

If you go to a Telecom Retail Store, they shouldn't ask you why.
