Hey Yo, so i'm on the "old" telecom network, and it expires pretty soon, 31st March?
I'm thinking about upgrading to an XT, but i've heard that the network pretty much sucks dick, plus all of the stuff that has been on the news, and all the comments from my friends, i'm thinking it might not be such a good choice... The phones are all good though.  I don't really know much about 2Degs? Is it better? what are your opinions? OR SHOULD I JUST SWTICH TO VODAFONE? Ahh so many Different options! NO CLUE! HELP ME PLEASE.

Thanksssss. Luc x

The Telecom CDMA network won't be closed down until at least 2012. You don't have to move or do anything.

Also the new Telecom XT network is not bad.

Telecom's old network is not being closed for another year or two.
You should probably go with the network that has the plan that best suits your needs. I am sticking with XT because I have not been affected by any outage and in my experience Telecoms customer service is better than Vodafones.

edit: I was a bit slow MF already answered

the CDMA network closing down in march? are you perhaps referring to the $10txt promo which ends 31st march?
XT is all good tho, the txt options are as good value as $10txt (better in some respects).
call quality is excellent, coverage i've experienced is great (got a txt up mt oxford the other day!).
the toys, ah the toys.... awesome!
as DeroyBoy said tho, decide what best suits your needs and go with that!

Switch to XT. You'll be fine :-)

The $12 non stop text is great and nice phones to choose from too.

Don't be put off by the recent outage, you're better off long term switching to XT now :-)

lol, for teens (and other "young" people such as myself...) the $10txt promotion ending is the SAME as the network itself ending :P

but yeah, just go on to XT! I did it last year :D

I thought the offer to get non-stop text ran out at the end of Jan?

Although it was advertised that $10 was guarranteed to March 2010 and a lot of people have been advised that it finishes March, we have now been told this is NOT correct and that $10 txt will continue on a month by month basis until further notice. There has been a big push for $12 non stop txt that was supposed to be opt in before 31 Jan 10 but that has now been opt in by 31 Mar 10 and guarranteed for 12 months. Reading between the lines, I think they are waiting for a certain % of txters to switch from $10 to $12 before finally stopping it.

That said, any moderate to heavy txter is way off better with XT on stop txt, for prepaid and not making any calls 1 topup ($20) will last 2 months. Txting anyone in NZ

I really don't know how people can stand by and say that the XT network is good when it has already crashed twice!!!

I believe that it is good when working but many people have lost business, calls etc due to what seems like underinvestment.

Telecom spend $500 million on a new network and you think it's underinvestment?

Er....if $500 million wasn't enough, obviously, then yes it is an underinvestment!!
