Apologies if you feel any of the comments (mine in particular) have offended but in defense I'd have to say with a lively debate about, what some people perceive as a failure, there will comments in regards to capabilities that may come across as insults.

Would you not agree that it is better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all?

Sure its sad that Big Time is going, but its been around for about 10 months now. I'm sure most of those sad to see it going have had generally postive experiences with it for the duration that they have been on it. If they hadn't then they wouldn't be sad to see it go =)

Im not offended nor insulted personally, but clearly BT is seen as a failure on our part and that those involved in BT are incompetent, and now the CSR's are incompetent. OK. Yes, off course there are instances where CSR's could do better, that is not new for any helpdesk, you can get that from any of these forums on other ISP's. So I can certainly apologise for any of these instances.

As far as those running BT, there is enough expertise there believe me, hence while I am also disappointed that it has been cancelled, I am under no illusion that there was no viable means to manage the heavy users effectively, and if there was, it would be an ongoing exercise, adding to the cost.

I realise that you feel otherwise, that we have no ability or expertise to manage such a plan, you are free to have that opinion.

But back on topic, I don't see what other ground we can cover on the BT removal.

When people believe that there has been a failure they will voice it. It's inevitable.

Here's a serious question: Will there be consideration for customers who decided that it was worth a cancellation fee to come onto this plan and why are they not "Grandfathering" the plan?

There will certainly be consideration to a degree for those who have paid a early termination fee with another provider to come to Big Time. You simply have to call and ask about it.

As to grandfathering the plan, that doesn't stop those abusing it. They will remain on it and continue to degrade the network as they have been in the past. Its also not economically viable for that to continue, even if it was just limited to other Big Time customers.

Tbh I think you'll find the people who need it are sad to see that they're going to have to move to a different provider and pay a lot more money. They still had plenty of problems.

I'd consider staying if they had a viable replacement but lowering the overage on Pro doesn't cut it for me personally.

The plan was grandfathered on the day it was announced. As from that day, a user cannot connect to or change to Big Time. Go Large was grandfathered for a long time, that won't be the case for Big Time. Letters will go out soon, with options, and rec ommendations based upon the users past usage history.

Those that wish to leave providers or whose usage requirements do not fit with any of our plans, and who are in contract will not have to pay an early termination fee. There are various scenarios, these are covered.

Until it it terminated, it will remain for current users.

@ Doozy / Telecom w.e

How about some simple / maybe new ideas on the table..

1) Unlimited data &  up to  2mbps / 512kbps  speed.

2) Unlimted data &  Up to 1mbps during the day and FS / FS at night.

3) 25 gb cap & goes down to 512kbps / 512 kbps  after cap is used, so net is still useable..

4) 20gb cap for peak hours & 100gb for offpeak hours.

5) 20gb cap for peak hours & unlimited data @ 2mbps max speed at offpeak.

6) Unlimited data & 1mbps speed.

Could also have p2p kept as less prioritised on the plans like go large was etc.

Good ideas for a young vibrant ISP perhaps but Telecom have never shown any inclination to get into complicated broadband plans.

I also doubt they'd like the idea of plans they can't market as ADSL2+

Sheagae: You work for Telecom or something? You sure are defending them quite a bit.

Who people here work for doesn't matter. It's against the FUG to come with this kind of argument.

Seeing I have already banned one and warned two people in this discussion for the same breach of FUG it's time to lock this discussion. But there are some good suggestions about new plans in the last couple of posts. Perhaps use that as a new, fresh start subject?

You are welcome to create another thread. But if there are breaches of FUG then the user will get banned, without warning.

As evidence of the argument that "a few spoil for everyone" I have reset the FUG for everyone to click the accept button again.

UPDATE: A discussion on Broadband plan suggestions to Telecom has been started.
