Our usage was meant to be un-metered until Telecom told us otherwise. Checked our usage today and in 1 week we've used over half our monthly cap because I haven't been bothered to check file sizes before downloading which I used to do. We didn't get any notifications from telecom that this would be happening and their CSR told us it was unlimited until we got a letter

What are the circumstances around you being offered temporary unlimited broadband? A quick background might help determine where you stand.

How come it was unmetered? Do you have a Tivo? If so that issue was never going to exist for ever.

Everyone on tivo was also notified in late November by a letter advising this was the case

For billions of years since the outset of time, every single one of your ancestors survived, every single person on your Mum and Dads side, successfully looked after and passed onto you life.  What are the chances of that like?

"Meant" because you were on Big Time and waiting to change plans, or "meant" because you have a TiVo and knew it was unmetered (by mistake).

If you had a TiVo Telecom always said only TiVo traffic itself was "unmetered". We know that the entire account was unmtered because of problems getting specific traffic counted (or not), but the company never announced TiVo as a "unmtered all you can eat out of jail free card".

And as said, in the last two weeks we had lots of comments here about things changing (here for example).
