my neighbour's landline is fix by Chorus. it has been about more than a week that the service company havent come and fill up the ditch they dug to fix my neighbour's landline on the shared driveway. its not only health and safety issue but it has been scratching the bottom of our cars.....i am definitely asking them for compensation for this. called them and in 3 occasions promise to call backs but havent and keep saying that it has gone to manager but havent and please tell the truth if you havent at least i wont be as angry/irrate now as i am pretty sure managers would take some sort of action unless all are slackers.. if someone from telecomNZ here that is willing to look into this and escalate this i will be much indebted/appreciate this. i am a patience person but now it has come to annoyance and ignorance!!!!!! i am running into a wall!!

Surely you shouldn't be driving up it if it is going to cause damage.

Who is the phone provider? Chorus are a service company and you have no direct relationship with them, the first point of contact should be the ISP/telco who is providing them service. What did they say when you contacted them?

From what you have said, it was your neighbours provider who did this, so surely it is up to them to sort out the problem, and get it filled in, and they have to get their provider to do this. I pressume due to thr privacy act, their provider can't discuss this with you anyway, can they? So they would need to get onto their service provider. I believe you have to be paying the extra line insurance in order for the provider to pay for fixing wiring on your property anyway, so did your neighbour have this insurance? There would be a reason why they haven't filled it in.

@mattwnz - didnt drive there. but its where we park our cars the entrance. we didnt drive in there to purposely damage our cars (it make no sense right who will be that crazy to do that on purpose)

@sbiddle - neighbour's provider is TelecomNZ and have been more than 1 week. getting annoying as the hole they dig is quite big .

@mattRSK - we have tried that to fill something up but cause of rain it get washed away. but at the end of the day its not our responsibility.

at the end of the day the service company Chorus should have got that sorted on that day when they fix the line. why leave it so long. now they say i have to wait till Tuesday to receive a confirmation when they will fix the ditch.

There is presumably a reason why the ditch wasn't filled in at the time. Considering your neighbour is the one getting the work done can he/she tell you why that is?

@mattwnz yes neighbour have that feature

@sbiddle my neighbour says that they will do it that evening when they first dig it in the morning about more than a week ago. after that they did the no show. later on says next week which is last week. after that no show again beginning of last week. then later promise end of last week and again did the no show. and now they says tuesday. lets hope they show up. if they do a no show.....any suggestion what i need to do next?

Wiring maintenance is only relevant for wiring on the customer side of the Demarcation point. The lead-in cable is network.

"“Demarcation point” The network demarcation point is at which the lead-in cable enters the
customer’s building and, usually, also the point at which the customer’s wiring is connected to the
network lead-in cable, and is detailed in section 27.5.  " TCF Code of Practice

To an extent this is correct. However, if the original cable between the demarc and the street was not installed by Chorus, it is not guaranteed by Chorus. It would be stupid of them to even dig it up if 
a) There is no warranty on the cable run AND
b) Owner with issue refuses to pay for repair

so it would come under the assumption that there is an agreement the work is under warranty or the owner will pay. But we all know where assumptions get us.
