BlueShift: I heard the couriers drivers are using Apple Maps - you could be in for a looong wait.

I hope nobody lives near Mount Orakei Basin or Bondi Beach in Auckland

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

Well I'm officially peeved now.

Just had confirmation that my order will be dispatched today. As expected those in Auckland could get their phones today. As I'm not in Auckalnd then it will be Monday at the earliest for me. (Nobody in the office on Saturdays).

I note also that if I had gone with Telecom I could have picked up my Pre-order from a Telecom store today. In fact I could have had it sent to a Launch store and had picked it up just after midnight.

Hopefully Vodafone will do a better job next time.

You should know by now that the world ceases to exist at the Supercity boundary...! You fall off the edge once you go past that point on the maps, I hear.

Funny how even people in the nation's capital city can't get delivery same day.

Haha yeah the Christchurch ones probably got shipped to Timaru airport as it was the closest ones to the Christchurch CBD.

Be thankful there hasn't been the delays or supply problems as with some prior launches.

Presumably you have a working phone to use in the interim so the extra 3 days is not going to impact business too much? I would imagine that Apple have forbidden them from being released to the couriers prior to launch day, certainly with most non-Apple related releases I've come across, the items ship the day prior to release and usually turn up when expected.

I had a weird thing with my delivery.

Text from VF at 1410 reads:

"Thank you for your iPhone 5 order. Your order has been dispatched and sent on urgent courier and therefore you won't receive a track and trace number."

Then an email at 1501 from VF which reads:

"Exciting news! Your purchase (order OS12345678) has been dispatched and should be with you in two working days!

You can track the progress of your parcel by going to www.courierpost.co.nz and entering your track and trace number. Please note that tracking details may not be available until 10am the next working day."

So two entirely contradictory possibilities there...

Ms Carter Carter obviously doesn't know that New Zealand and Auckland are not the same place.

It is an insult to the rest of the country that it is OK for those in Auckland to get their order today, but the rest of the country can wait.

Agreed. As I have said elsewhere, it's about time we simply formally named Auckland as the capital, since it is in all but name.

Why can't those who live say in Wellington etc simply nominate a Vodafone store from which they will collect their order on release day?

VF have logistics in place to send phones to their shops already, so should not be too difficult.

Mates at work strolled into Voda stores today to pick theirs up - I suppose people who preordered could technically buy in store and return the preordered one.

Way to go. If they had used any other courier not owned by NZ Post, that might actually have arrived here today!!

Since RD don't work until Monday, theoretically we might not get delivery until Wednesday. I could also have given them an address in the village (only 3km from here anyway) that is not on RD if they had told me that was their plan, rather than telling me it would be sent on 'urgent courier' which to me means Pace, who will deliver here from Auckland on the same day if you pay them to do it - next day is certainly done by them.

Last time I order from VF over the phone for sure.

Phones arrived today, Tuesday.

The 'Urgent Courier' obviously has a very erroneous definition of what the word 'urgent' means.

I was able to get Courier Post to hold my order at the depot so I could pick it up on Saturday.

Mine was handed to Rural Post at 5am on Saturday so no chance for that.

Why VF did not tell me that they were using a courier that would not deliver to RD addresses direct, I have no idea - some will, as indeed would Pace which is actually the 'urgent courier' part of NZ Post!

Pace once delivered a parcel to me from Auckland on the same day it was sent!

/OT - sister company under "express couriers Limited" and partner with DHL Worldwide, no interaction between their parcels appart from going between cities on the same trucks so wouldn't get transferred to them to hurry it up ;)
