moonglow: That seems crazy, specially when the gear is being sold here and is pretty much worthless without the upgrade for most phones. Looks like I'm rooting tomorrow then.

The gear was released as a partner to the Note 3 not every Samsung phone, it isn't crazy just how Android works so don't blame the manufacturers or Telco's

Please stop saying this is how android works, such a harsh way to say it. It is more like how manufacturer like Samsung works. Android isn't slow at updating either but manufacturer decided that they can't be stuff to do fast update on what is already sold and superceeded by a new generation devices. Or even cancelled it completely because they don't want to spend money on providing support on things that are not still being sold.Pure Android is open and fast update but the heavily skinned firmware I the caused of slow update.

Fair point but please remember that you have also to make it fit each phone you have and that takes time so whilst you are half correct it isn't the full picture is it nor can you compare to Apple or WP. If I was in marketing I would also strive for a point in difference over the competition why would you release a phone that was the same, oh wait we have Google Edition phones which update fast now there's an answer for your dilemma

You are however incorrect to target Samsung as they aren't the only ones, well unless you have links to show non Google phones are doing it any better.

I only use Samsung in this regard, but I target all manufacturers. There are more than one of them out there. I would not know which phones getting the latest updates because it is none of my concern and I do not owned any non-Samsung Android phones. :)  And I would like to stay on topic. It seems like you giving Samsung too much credits for updates/support of their phones & tablet. Updates should be provided by manufacturers (eg: Samsung, HTC, LG...etc) and they should be blamed for this. Telco has almost no part in firmware except testing to make sure it works with their services. Alternatively, Samsung could do better by released less crappy features that 90% of the time is useless and focusing on the ones that actually work and it would speed up updates process and upgrade its data centre. Enough argument. You have won this one and I am here to providing info on update that is being pushed slowly by Samsung to those who wanted to know. So let's move on and hope for a better community.    Big thank you to JohnR.

I haven't won anything as I don't see it as a competition as I was adding balance to you one sided comments and somewhat unfairly blaming samsung in this case. You made a post stating they take longer to release that LG/HTC which is incorrect now you are blaming all manufacturers of Android which may or may not delay more than they should.

Crappy features are subjective what is liked by some is not by others.

I hope your crusade to change the way  android updates happens works out, until then I'll flash the latest updates and keep the features Samsung puts in that I like.

Lol. I'm already running customRom anyway. I'm sick of waiting and take initiative.

johnr: Aboutt time

Agreed. Samsung is being really slow with updates. Which they could do better with pushing out updates to their phones. I can't wait to download this and have flash on my phone. I have software glitch since I got my phone back from Samsung repair centre.

Flashing my phone with EMA2 firmware so I can upgrade to this 4.3 via OTA. I'm running customROM and not very stable.

You can bookmark this page for your phone:

http://live.samsung-updates.com/?device=GT-I9305

And this is the link for those Telecom User:

Your latest is 4.1.2 and it is going to be a while to get 4.3 :D

It will update every few minutes and check your CSC for region firmware code. eg: Mine is GT-I9300 and my CSC is VNZ.

On topic: My experience with this VNZ firmware is positive so far. It is much stable than the EU early firmware(s) and battery life is much better than those older 4.3 releases as well. My customROM firmware was a little hungry on battery but this one seems to be doing a bit better job.

1. Battery is good
2. Responsiveness is better than other earlier 4.3 firmware
3. Lockscreen deep sleep wakes up in 2s instead of 5s/6s on the EU firmware with older build date.
4. New widgets
5. Camera (sound shot)
6. Graphic driver performance improved
7. TW updated (transparent notification bar) and no longer reload or clearing cache every time like before and more fluid UI transition.
8. TRIM support improves IO  and make it feel snappier
9. Widgets tab still lag lol
10. A few new apps here and there.
11. Keyboard is no longer crashes or force close when playing Clash of Clans :P That's it for now. This is how far I got to know it since updated to 4.3 last night.

12. NO KNOX and I have no idea why we'd need it lol
