While I know that Exchange 2007 UM is a huge topic in its own right, and that using it for small business is a little bit of overkill, I hate having things available and not using them to their full potential. I would like to know if VFX is in any way compatible with Exchange 2007 UM and if so what hardware would be best for use.

For people wondering what UM is, its basically the ability for everything to be in your Outlook inbox - email, fax, voicemail etc. And is a server role in Microsoft Exchange 2007. You can read more here. Please note this post if not for the feint of heart as Exchange is a complicated beast, this is also not for a thread to flame MS.

From what I understand UM connects to either an IP Gateway, or an IP PBX and provides a connection to store voicemail etc in the Exchange Store file rather than the traditional way. Microsoft has a list of recommended / tested IP PBX and gateway systems - alot of which are made by Cisco, and since Linksys seems to be the VFX manufacturer of choice, they may be compatible (Linksys being a division of Cisco).

We have signed up for Xnet and VFX yesterday and I asked the same question of them on the phone, but haven't heard back from then yet. I thought posting this on the forums might be a good way of finding out if any IT Pros in NZ have done this using VFX.

Look forwarding to hearing your responses.

Hi , funny you should ask this as I have just finished answering this in a Ticket that was logged Wink

Basically VFX is a IP Centrex platform and already has some inbuilt UMS functions, MSE 2007 would actually have to directly connect in some way to be used, so is not really supported at this time , possible in the future but just something we havn't looked at yet....sorry

Cool, so thats kinda out at this point Cry

How about integration with Office Communication Server? ResonsePoint?!?!? There's gotta be something cool we can do with it that no one else has!

On a side note, where can I find out prices etc on the SPA9000 and the 3Bit stuff. I can't seem to find the SPA9000 on the Ingram Micro site, but all their other stuff is there.

Hi All,

A Quadro IP PBX + Exchange 2007 setup was being demoed two weeks ago at the CeBIT expo in Sydney, and was very impressive.
We will have a copy of Exchange 2007 running here soon hooked to a Quadro and WorldxChange DVX.

If you would like me to keep you updated then drop me a PM with your details.
