Hi guys,

I bought a locked Vodafone phone by accident from Noel Leeming, there was nothing in the store indicating it is locked nor on the website here: http://goo.gl/Z4MMHx - if you have known me long enough you'll know this wouldn't be a PEBCAC.

The phone is a Nokia Lumia 530 - for my mother since her HTC 8S has died. I'm sure a rep from VF can simply send me the unlock code for it once I provide them with the IMEI however the thing I really would like to know (since I can't find any information on it) is if the phone will work on Spark, reason being a corporate Spark sim will be going into it. The Nokia model number is RM-1018.

More just want to know this then I'll just a VF rep to fetch me the unlock code - pretty stink it was locked when it shouldn't have otherwise I think I'll need to return it to Noels and grab the next one up direct from Spark, more just wanting to save money as my mother won't use half the things on it.

BTW - Vodafone's "unlock" website states that an unlock fee of $30 will apply to unlock this phone.

Cheers.

The phone in the link specifies Spark network.

I'd take it back. I'm totally against carrier locked phones.

Need to check the box for the bands, as the online info is not much to go by. This indicates it IS a telecom and not a VF one..

A new Lumia device with code RM-1018 has passed through FCC and this device has NAM (North America) on its label. It also has T-Mobile’s GSM and WCDMA frequencies GSM/GPRS/EGPRS850, GSM/GPRS/EGPRS1900, WCDMA850 (Band 5) and WCDMA1900 (Band 2) in tow, indicating its destination. Though, it is obviously coming to markets outside of USA and Canada.

Sure the retailer hasn't handed you the wrong box. That advert even says Spark

Sounds like you got a VF version rather than a spark one

Best to go back to the store and get the right phone. As per the VF website if you want them to unlock the phone it will be $30 as per http://www.vodafone.co.nz/shop/mobileDetails.jsp?skuId=sku460221&voucherCode=&selectionKey=mobile&menuKey=mnit1800018&ignoreCartContent=true
