JoeBloggs:MattD: Numbers have been estimated a number of times (USD173)My guess is cost to VFNZ would be $350-400 NZDA little higher, plus Apple still has a revenue stipulation which I'm unclear about.
Thanks ;-)Less than $500 was where my head was originally.. but dropped a little.
SightUnseen: I've put my piece on the pricing hereWhat's written may not be to everyone's liking, but that's to be expected. Hopefully it'll offer a little insight into the pricing of the device.
We appreciate that your store may be receiving many customer enquiries regarding the iPhone, however, please ensure that no information is printed or pricing lists are created in-store for our customers. We can discuss pricing with customers, but any printed material must be printed by the customer.
To provide any printed material to customers that is not Apple approved puts Vodafone in breach of our commercial agreement with Apple and therefore our distribution at risk
Haha, it appears Apple is both very aware of their image and very stringent in this department. I wonder how Vodafone appears through all this?
Hardware subsidies are defined BY EACH STORE, so each Vodafone/First Mobile/DS Wireless/etc store is likely to have a different offer.
MattD:s.joseph: You can if you buy the phone outright and put a prepay sim in it.still to be confirmed

I agree. They don't need to. Everybody has to sign a contract before they can walk out of the store with an iPhone. Though a prepay sim can be used on the phone, the monthly fee still has to be paid.
Question I am a Vodafone Prepay customers – can I get iPhone 3G on Prepay
Answer No, iPhone will not be available on Prepay.
You need to have subscribed to either an iPhone plan or alternatively a standard On account plan (You Choose, talkZone, or Corporate) with a compatible Broadband plan for mobiles.
It only states that the iPhone is not available on Prepay, not that the Prepay SIM card won't work on the phone.
JoeBloggs: You'll get the usual Choose subsidies though some retail stores may cut into their phone margin as well as their contract commission margin and subsidise the sale price further. You won't see these better-than-usual deals via regular channels on the Iphone for some time, at least until supply becomes more available. The best subsidy you'll receive so far is via the Iphone plans.

As per Vodafone's answers, you can use a Prepay on this handset. It will have voice and SMS only, since data uses a special APN not available to Prepay customers.

That's right jmcollis.
Please note everyone that the extra data subsidies are only available at the time of resigning or creating a new contract.

Forgive my ignorance, but can you not just change the APN setting in the phone to a standard one? Or is it perhaps not possible to mess with such settings on an iPhone.
