Optus and Vodafone in Australia have a 900MHz 3G network, which also is unable to be used by the iPhone 3G for 3G connection, which will run on the 2100MHz 3G network, which has also been criticised for the small coverage.

I quite obviously missed out the "the iPhone" bit there, which I added afterwards. This is, after all, an iPhone thread. That was also the gist of my previous posts.

At least in Australia you can understand the desire for longer range coverage. We're not so spread out. Getting back to what I quoted from the vodabot conversation, the setup costs in NZ should be cheaper. There's no excuse for such gouging.

Every single 3G cell in NZ is HSDPA and soon HSPA and this includes all future 3G cells

A nice place to rant to VFNZ I guess, maybe with the vast amount of complaints regarding the pricing of the plans they may see the light? Who knows, but it would do more good than anything.

I wouldn't waste your time - Mark Rushworth has proven that Vodafone NZ isn't interested. But how about complaining to Vodafone Group itself? Surely a complaint to people there would get them to sit up and take notice of the "golden child" of the Vodafone group destroying it's reputation?

Will take a bit of time. I guess by then we might have the 4 or 5G iPhone already and we all forget about this story.

Did anyone notice that Vodafone AUS also have the BS data included in their plans for the iphone?

(Just to be clear, im talking about DATA not pricing in this post for you whiny ones.)

I'm sure some more knowledgeable users here can give accurate figures on how much expansion and upkeep costs. Also remember that with the recent aquisition of IHug their revenue source is infinitely bigger.

The $46 is per month. VF's revenues for the year are well over $1 billion, having surpassed the $1 billion mark in the 2006 financial year from memory.

If I purchase that along with the broadband 1gb plan, for a term of 24 months, would I get a subsidy of $230? With a monthly payment of $85.90?"

So I would get the subsidy off the price of the standalone 16gb making it $900 or will I get it at near or less the price if I had gone on the iPhone 250 plan, which is $700? Seeing as I'm paying for $6 more than their 250 plan, and I'm staying on term for the same amount of time (24 months), I'm hoping that somehow that makes me elligible to buy the 16gb iPhone for $700 or less. If so that would be an instant buy for me :D
