I've posted the video I made of the iPhone line outside Vodafone in Auckland if anyone's interested. It can be found here.

I popped down to the wellinton launch and there wasn't much going on. Maybe 150 people there. Around half seemed to be queing up to buy one, the rest just watching like me. They had a radio going with coverage from what was going on in Auckland. Had a countdown at midnight, then let the first guy into the store. Took him about 20 mins to pick a phone and plan etc, then he came out and they started letting others in. Oh and there was coffee you could buy, and some free chocolate.

Unfortunately it seems that there were still quite a few people willing to pay the pricetag.

I like the new flush 3.5m jack.

If one really wants to complain, don't go to Vodafone - go to Apple.

Looking at the web stats for our blog, it looks like quite a number of people have followed the link.

Pics or it didn't happen ;-)

Also, Apple's site and Software Update aren't showing the iPhone Version 2.0 software or iTunes 7 currrently, so we've found links from Apple's site and put them here.

got my iphone last night, a couple of tidbits

iPhone is not sim locked at all, meaning any sim (prepay or contract) will work, can buy the phone outright and do as you will with it. No data access on prepay though.

the iphone APN is www.iphone-vodafone.co.nz

Just checked the VF online store and glad to see they still haven't sold out like they said they would.  Only the 16gig Black model has sold out.  Bugger if you stayed out in the cold to buy one when you could have stayed at home nice and warm got up late and still get one the next day. Hopefully the rest won't sell out and they will realise that the plans just don't stack up for the average user.  Feel sorry for the ones who thought it would sell out and are now locked into pathetic plans for 24 months.

nickindeedy: Because black isREALLLLY smudgy

Exactly. Got a white iPod and the fingerprints are harder to notice.

If they stuck with the non-glossy black at the back, I would be all over it.
