They did the exact same thing with their first generation of 3G phones, which lost them a lot of business to Telecom. While I don't think this will have the same effect, it'll definitely have them footing the bill for the iPhones with very little uptake. Give it a few months and they'll come down. But I bet not to $400 for the handset with no plan...

These petitions are absolutely pathetic. If you want to make a difference, vote with your wallet. You're perfectly welcome to not purchase the phone, and that's exactly what I'll be doing.

Signed both.

Just in case NOT buying it doesn't help.

I don't believe Vodafone did given that they never offered the first generation iPhone to start with. iPhone 3G is the first officially offered by Vodafone. As for it losing them business to Telecom, do you have any figures to back that up...or is it just your opinion?

The only way that “not buying it” would not work is if plenty of other people are buying it. In that case, I don’t think it would be commercially responsible for Vodafone to say “well, we’re selling heaps of these units and getting plenty of people on to our new plans, but because we were targeted by some completely inconsequential internet poll, we’re not going to concern ourselves with mere profit”. I don’t think the shareholders would be overly pleased. Nor do I think your logic withstands even passing economic scepticism.

You can't be serious... You've been spamming this around on Geekzone forums, blogs and other places. So I went to read it. And you can't even think anyone would take something like this seriously:

WTF!!! How on earth do these people think of these prices...
Why should we put up with these thieving corporate monkeys.

You know, people are not dealing with your next door emo neighbour. The guys in Auckland and in London will be laughing to the bank while kids write these things.

Easy on now - re-read the post. 'coward' is talking about the first generation of 3G phones on the Vodafone network - nothing to do with the iphone.
