Okay so I'm not sure if this has been picked up on yet, but guess what? If you're less than 6 months into your YouChoose plan and want an iPhone, you don't get any iPhone subsidy! So you can move onto an iPhone plan no worries, but you'll have to pay full RRP for the phone.

I re-signed up to Talker just last month, and so now if I want an iPhone, I'm gonna have to fork out ~$1000, instead of ~$600 to go on the $80/month plan. Ouch, much?

Way to go Vodafone! Don't have my extra $50/month then...

The pricing is a royal shafting anyway; then again, I prefer to keep my phone and player separate.

Fact is I never got another hardware discount when I re-signed my YouChoose plan. I just went from regular YouChoose -> Talker. Thus, why should I be disadvantaged when it comes to an iPhone purchase?

I also figure that phone repayments are somehow worked in to the plan costs, making it a bit unfair having to pay full hardware costs upfront..?

If I'm not wrong, if you did not receive any phone subsidy, you would have receive extra bundled minutes.

Nup just the usual 60.

Perhaps this could be made as a case for an iPhone subsidy :D

The way I am reading it, if you swap over to the new iPhone plans, and get the iPhone with that, you *are* eligable for the subsidy?

Apparently not:

Question

What if I’m on a Vodafone On Account plan and want to move on to an iPhone plan?

 Answer

If you are an existing customer not eligible for resign and within the first 6 months of your contract term, you can plan transfer to an iPhone specific plan. In some cases Plan Transfer Fees may apply. Note even though you are able to transfer to an iPhone specific plan you will need to purchase an iPhone at full RRP.

Well that sucks. Wonder if I can just sign up to a new plan, then cancel out of the current one later on....... hmmm....
