In the past few months I have noticed a significant deterioration of the VF service on Auckland, especially on the North Shore. Since I have got a 3G phone SEV800 it is regularly missing calls and dropping calls when I am in the car. I am wondering if this might be my handset?? It is so annoying that I am thinking I will have to disable the 3G in my phone to hopefully get better reliability. Any others having similar problems. Suggestions.
Thanks
Larry

What part of the Shore> I would say the coverage is changing due to network changes as they start to fine tune the network. From driving around I am seeing a number of new sites being installed (Shore). Auckland is tricky cause its so hilly. I would say the bays would be very hard to get right hilly and by the ocean.

I live in Hillcrest (right next to Northcote, sometimes even known as Northcote) and over the past 5 years, coverage has been about 2 bars of reception and sometimes no coverage at all. About 3 months ago it all changed and i now have full reception anywhere on the property!! it's great, about bloody time!

simon_nz90 two upgrades have been finished in your area. One near the North shore events centre and also one on Northcote road near Pizza Hutt which improved coverage a good deal and these sites are 3G as well as GSM

Anything from $10000 for a simply microcell in a CBD environment up to $300000ish for a large mast in a rural environment.

And typical rental costs of around $5k per year for an average site. I would gladly offer my roof for a cellsite! :-)

With the added benefit of receiving excessive RF Emissions. Hmm, no thanks.

But Vodafone & Telecom both insist cellsites are prefectly safe. What is there to worry about?

Much like cigarette companies preached "there is nothing wrong with smoking"? lol

You have to wonder if any issues will arise as a direct result of cellphone use/close proximity to cell sites in the not to distant future.
