That's interesting. It came through fine on my Apple Watch.

Cellular or not?

It's a cellular capable model, but not actually connected as One NZ doesn't support it. So, it would have to have been mirroring my phone.

The Apple watch will have got it because it's cellular then, direct from the cell site. Don't need a SIM to receive those alerts.

Both my phones, one android and one iPhone got the alert ok but I think only my Android* phone made any noise - as others above have commented.

My android phone then started reading out the alert which was extra cool. Didn’t notice my Apple Watch making a fuss about it but I may have killed the alert from there whilst being jumped out of my skin from the noise.

(*edited - i'd got this around the wrong way earlier.)

was listening to music on my Pixel 6a and got the alert in my ear buds - but in addition, the phone itself also sounded.
Message was then read aloud via both phone and earbuds.

S10+ and S20FE, both on 2D.

S20 got the first message, flashing lights and lots of noise from the phone. Got a second message shortly afterwards, same reaction.

S10+ was connected via Bluetooth to my vehicle - music stopped, but no alert noise from either the phone or the vehicle. It only received one alert, and that was after the S20 had received it's second one.

Interesting how many different experiences there are in this thread alone.

The alert system is definitely improving... only received the test alert twice instead of between three and five copies of the same alert that I was receiving during the weather events earlier in the year.

S10+ on two degrees didn't get the alert (unlike last time)

iPhone on Vodafone did get the alert.

I still wish there was a way of muting these short of having to root a phone. At least silencing the audio alert, if not blocking entirely.

I know you can disable them entirely on ios (well atleast in ios 14) but on android you can atleast turn of all but the Emergency alerts. Allthough all the tests are Emergency.

But personaly I would just leave it on.
