Anybody with experience in setting up office 365 outlook with an outlook.co.nz email address?
I'm helping a family member set up their new surface pro 2 and at the same time ween them off an old xtra email address and onto an outlook.co.nz email address. I managed to eventually get Hotmail connector going on his old system and uploaded most of his old email onto his new outlook.co.nz email account. We got him a office 365 subscription and I thought it would be easy to then use outlook to synch up with his outlook.co.nz email. He Has several different folders setup in his outlook.co.nz account and I thought these would all just download themselves to his surface. They did, sort of. The inbox folder did, one other small folder did. And all the other folders showed up in office 365 outlook, but no emails actually came down in all other folders. So I deleted that account from office 365 outlook and tried again. This time some emails from another folder came down. It would say downloading from server, and some of the emails would come into the folder, but then it would just say "awaiting server response" and nothing would happen. I found if I restarted the office 365 outlook software then a few more would come down each time, about 100 or so. So the synching process is taking a LONG time and I'm not sure what's going on, is this normal? I thought using Office 365 in conjunction with a outlook.co.nz email address would have all worked nicely together. Any suggestions?

Any reason why you wouldn't use Windows 8 Mail instead of Outlook as a client?

You could use the Mail client and simply add a Windows account type with the outlook.co.nz credentials.

Good point you make, the Windows 8 mail client actually looks pretty good and seems to grab mail a lot quicker than outlook is. For him it's more of a familiarity thing, years of using outlook. he will also occasionally need to use it offline looking at older emails. I will have to see how mail works when offline. Also he needed the rest of the software in the suite, I thought setting up outlook would be a breeze.

I just entered the address in and outlook did the rest. I've noticed now that it disconnects from the server, requiring a restart of outlook, if left for more than an hour or so. It also seems to take a long time to receive emails, I thought with this EAS it would be instantaneous. I find a registry fix on the Microsoft forum I will try this afternoon and see if that works.

I tried the automatic registry fix that Microsoft recommended trying, but it just gave me a message that it was not needed. But it started synching just fine by itself so who knows.
I have came up against another problem though, Nathan you might be able to shed some light. We tried to send a message out to most of his contacts informing them to use the new email address, and we got a message about having run out of storage space and this error code

File: outlook\pstprx\storeas\utils\airsyncstatuscodes.h
Line: 104
HTTP/1.1 200 OK
MailStatus: 115
To re-try press F9...
    Error Code:    0x80004005

So I archived a bunch of his older emails to free up some space, unfortunately it turns out this was completely unnecessary and wasn't actually the problem. The problem was that I was running up against outlook.com receipient limits, I didn't realise this so we just split the message up and sent it in a couple of batches. Now I have found out that we have hit the email messages sent maximum limit when using outlook.com via outlook 2013, he can receive messages just fine via outlook 2013 but gets the same error message - Your mailbox has reached it's maximum size limit etc etc. Emails can be sent fine via the mail app and also via the web. How long will this 'ban' be in place? I can't find any information as to how long it takes to clear,or if you actually need to contact somebody to sort this. Any ideas?
