if the PC is under warranty return to seller . The PC manufacture covers the warranty not Microsoft.


In the 1 to2 days prior to an update Microsoft magic changes some settings back to standard much to the annoyance of some . Update is the Wednesday following the 2nd Tuesday (11th this month) in New Zealand assuming the person in Microsoft is ready I suggest you do nothing until late Wednesday. Good luck.




Thanks for that, if anyone really wants to get ahead of the game with Windows 10 Version 1803, you could use the Windows Insider Program to try out this release.

I have finally managed to get my computer to update Windows 10. This was achieved by downloading the 10 April 2018 Version 1803, OS Build 17134.1 and it installed without any problems.


Dozens of attempts at getting the latest updates to install for Version 1709 had failed, so it's good to see that Version 1803 actually installed on the first attempt. Let's hope that the updates to Version 1803 will install properly as they come along.

Thanks, yes, I installed Version 1803 from this link:


This major update hadn't actually shown up in my computer "Windows Update" section, which was still trying to get me to do an update for Version 1709.


I'm not sure why V1803 installed on the first attempt when multiple failures occurred when trying to install updates to V1709, why do you think this would happen?


I had even been quoted $400 by a computer repair place to reinstall Windows etc so that V1709 updates could be installed, but it seems that the fault was always with the V1709 software itself and not something that repair places needed to help with?

First Issue was a win 7 upgraded to win 10, the updates stalled the laptop at start up, requiring a reboot that stalled again and again. Because it was a free upgrade there were no original discs so hours were spent searching for online solutions.  Apprehensively I played through some of the suggested processes and finely got there.  However that laptop is currently doing an update started yesterday about 3pm and was only at 84% this morning.  At least now I have a backup copy of win 1o on memory stick.  Sadly the All in one had a different fate.  Also start up issues, sometimes working sometimes not, then after a month away it would only register the little green light.  Nerd diagnosis is a stuffed motherboard, so one wonders if this was due to the problem or just one big coincidence.


I wonder if an Insurance company would consider a mother board destroying update as an accident.  More likely to consider it an act of neglect by MS and we should sue.  Yeah Tui
