freitasm: Asking again: what is "slow"? Internet speed or PC operation? Testing on WiFi or Ethernet?

gordonisnz:

Thanks - took a few hours to upgrade, but im now on 10.0.19041 - seems faster but it has only been a few minutes. I'll test tonight & tomorrow & see how it is.

So far its a LOT faster than yesterday :) the download speed is OK - what i expect. But "sometimes" in the last few hours i see web pages take a while to compile/process. Though it is a lot faster than yesterday.

I'll check tomorrow

If you are using WiFi try a cable instead and retest, generally a cable is much faster. It does just sound like it may have been updates downloading causing the issue though. Often the case with a new pc when it's first connected to the internet. Tends to settle down after a while.

Also Wifi bandwidth is shared, so the more devices using it at the same time the slower it gets.

And if you share your internet with other people it's always worth checking what they are doing when it is slow for you.

Many times I have had friends with teenagers who swear it's not them slowing down the internet only to be caught out downloading torrents etc. And another who's son said "I don't use much internet I'm just watching youtube and playing my game... they seem to have no concept of data usage.
