my xp files to win 7 .

i have been having one issue, that the sound keeps not working- i have re installed the sound drivers
twice now, and re downed them from realtek with what looks to be the latest drivers-
question is why does it keep happening and how can i get around this??

Download drivers from the manufacturer, not Realtek, and try again.

I guess your not running anything like HP power assistant
ver over 2.0.36 seems to kill the audio if not produces annoying click sounds
every 10 seconds.. fix is to roll back the application to older version or just get rid of it

but maybe its something similar on your setup other soft you wouldnt expect
messing the audio up.. who would think its was HP power control soft.

When this happens is there an exclamation mark on the driver in device manager?

MaYbe an obvious one but check out under control panel->sound devices. Check which output is active.. I had trouble with this when I switched to 7. There are 2 options..i think its default and active sound device
.might explain iT..
