I want to FTP snapshots from a security camera to a remote server.

I have a

  • Dahua NVR that already records 24/7 with IVS from a Dahua camera.
  • 2x Raspberry pi, one running Haspbian/HA only. 2nd is my pihole/VPN
  • dreamhost server

Ideally I want to FTP to the pi, then the pi monitors for new files in the folder, then moves or copy/delete to the remote server via SFTP.

What would the simplest way to implement this be? Gui would be ideal but happy to break my way through things on linux if required.

You'll want to write a script and cron the job to check for changes to the directory.

I do similar, but windows, where the nvr ftps out to a windows machine and then I use the google photos uploader to load all the photos to unlimited google photos storage.

I struggled to get FTP or SFTP working internally, in part due to issues with the NVR, secondly my very limited knowledge around vsftpd and linux. I was wanting to go down this route and use rclone to get the images sent to a remote server.

Settled on SMTP to gmail account, that only forwards attachments ie not the triggers for start/finish of events, and IFTTT to copy the attachment to GDrive.

Just note, that by copying the attachment to gdrive....it is counted as part of your overall gmail storage.

Thanks, shouldn't be a problem as the account was only created for this reason. All photos will eventually be deleted.
