I've been to more gigs than I can recall, but I'll try to share some highlights.

Most recently that I can recall, King Cannons, live in Christchurch. Ex NZ band moved to Aussie. Pics here.

Also, Dresden Dolls live in Christchurch (with support from Hera) as well as their free Ninja Gig at Hagley Park which drew quite a crowd. A couple of weeks after that I saw a guy who goes by the name of Voltaire. Little-known so the turnout was poor but I didn't care, I'm a huuuuuuge fan. (Similar sort of dark cabaret stuff that Dresden Dolls do.)

"Big" gigs I've seen lately that have stood out would be Metallica in 2010 and Iron Maiden in 2009. Both times my old band supported them. Yeah, I quit before I got the chance to meet and support either bands. Fail.

In 2004 I had the pleasure of seeing David Bowie and A Perfect Circle in different cities in one weekend.

Bjork in 1996 is still one of my favourites. As is Metallica in Wellington in 1998.

Have seen Tool four times too.

gurthang117: 2010 was a huge year for music concerts for me, I'll never be able to top it. I was in Chicago over the summer, and saw:
Counting Crows, George Thorogood, Quintus McCormick, Tom Petty, Carlos Santana, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Stone Temple Pilots (with Cage the Elephant as 1st act), Jack Johnson, Jethro Tull, The Steepwater Band, Robert Randolph.
At Lollapalooza I caught: Soundgarden, Wolfmother, Mumford and Sons, Blitzen Trapper

But if I had to pick "one" concert as the best ever it would be Clapton's Crossroads Festival. It went for around twelve hours with one stage and less than 2-3 minutes between sets. They had a revolving stage for the musicians to set up. And Bill Murray was the MC!
The best highlights were:
Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, ZZ Top, Gary Clark Jr, Jeff Beck... many others.

That was an amazing 3 months :)

Man very jealous, sounds like an awesome time.

Jealous to see Rodrigo Y Gabriela on it too - I got into them two weeks after they played an Auckland gig and their last scheduled gig here was at a festival that got canned...

Then a big gap until the last few years, in no particular order:
Roger Waters "The Wall", Faith No More, Rammstein, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, Pixies, Wolfmother, Metallica (twice), Linkin Park, Slayer, Byork, Megadeth, Deftones, Pearl Jam, Ben Harper, U2, Them Crooked Vultures, Foo Fighters, Slash, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flight of the Conchords, Korn, Kings of Leon (twice), Iron Maiden, Green Day, Lamb of God... Probably some others I can't recall off the top of my head.

Coming up:
Black Sabbath, Tool

First concert was AC/DC at Athletic Park in Wellington, loud as hell!!

Early 90's i went and saw Jeff Healey in Wellington, St James i think? Because everyone was seated it was hard to get into it but definitely primo sound.

While living in Brisbane i saw Metallica, Pantera and Sepultura:

Metallica was a dream come true.
Sepultura was awesome.
Pantera ................. the amount of energy that came off that stage was unbelievable, walked out of that concert absolutely shagged.

I bought tickets to see Megadeth but they went and cancelled, shot Dave M.

Would love to see the blues master Joe Bonamassa live.

I went to Cranberries too, and whilst it wasn't the best concert I went to I am curious what you didn't like?

Really enjoyed it, so glad I went. Although was a little pricey.

Yah I loved it in Auckland, was worth every cent. I went for 1 song (Father and Son) and it was great.

i was there too. long time led zeppelin fan. plant still has an awesome voice! blind boys were great too, especiall liked their 'amazing grace' sung to 'house of the rising sun'.

one criticism.... it was a seated concert and felt a bit 'oldies' with people yelling 'sit down' at times...

Oh man, found out this afternoon that Saturday is going to be even better than I had thought - free Beastwars gig at Real Groovy from 4pm, then Shihad opening for Sabbath, then Sabbath. Epic heavy music day.

I'll throw in with my musical tastes.

2006 - Saw Opeth at the St James Theater (RIP) in Auckland. Was A.MA.ZING. 2 songs for the encore :D
2010 - Saw Nile in The Basement. The bands before Nile were terrible, as were Hate Eternal. Most people were outside talking until Nile started.

Steve Miller Band and Santana Vector arena, terrible concert. He can play a mean guitar but it was a big blended mess.

Steve Miller was okay, again guitar wise okay. A little before my time though.

Heart and Def Leppard - Vector arena. Really enjoyed that concert, the vibe was awesome and although not a fan of Heart they did impress me :-)

Also people were actually getting into the concert instead of just sitting there like at Santana.

Was going to get a $60 ticket to Sabbath but I think I've left that too late, Tool would be amazing to see. Tenacious-D at the town hall is one concert I want to see but I'll be out of Auckland on a boring course :-/
