Went to the Green-stone event at Gibbston Valley wine estate in Queenstown a couple of weeks ago, Toni Child's, Aussie Crawl and Super tramp.  Good concert albeit a bit damp.  However, when you are paying $8 a can of beer, that equates to $96 a dozen, it is a bit of a rip and blatant price gouging.  When a normal dozen costs roughly $22.   Its no wonder people dream up ingenious methods of smuggling alcohol in or pre load to the max.

At the Hamilton Sevens last weekend there were a group of middle aged woman all with bottles of coke and a cup. They seemed too happy to all be mormons and I spotted them later on squirting sunscreen into their drinks.

I can't remember what brand of sunscreen it was but it must taste ok

Went to Mumford and Sons a couple of weekends ago, great show.

While in Boston last year I saw Florence and the Machine (for the second time) she is a great entertainer with a lot of energy, also saw Phil Collins, who was also a great entertainer but not so much energy still a great show though, heading along to the mission concert to see him again next wee.

I saw those "sunscreen" flasks for sale at David's Emporium and thought they'd be selling like hotcakes for the 7s. Cricket coming up soon too...

Phil Collins in Christchurch. What a show! Amazing. I am still buzzing.

The Brass was fantastic and his son is a great drummer esp given he is only 17!

Nice. I thought about it. I saw some were miffed at the view from their higher priced seats, so glad you must have had good ones. I'm just down the road in Aidanfield, drove past the stadium today, a bit regretful now.

I did have good seats. The best in fact :) Front Row Center. I was in Front of where he sat.

Went to the Hutt Rec last night [good name by the way for those of us that know the Hutt is a wreck:-)] and watched the Red Hot Summer tour which featured local band Merrin opening for Diesel, The Angels, The Living End and Jimmy Barnes. It kicked off a little late due to the wind causing concerns about the staging but once that was ratcheted down a bit more it was a brilliant afternoon/night of entertainment which went from about 3:15pm to 10pm. I'll put it out there that The Living End were the highlight for me, closely followed by The Angels.

Phil Collins at the Mission.

Rubbish weather, soaked to the skin and chilly.

Brilliant concert though. Really good. Son should have worn a gorilla suit for THAT drum intro though...!

We were up the hill at the back most of the time, until we walked down towards the end.

Oddly the sound was FAR better at the back in the Mission venue than it was at the front.

He must almost know you by sight - his security probably have you down as "crazy stalker" on a watch list....! 😀

I'm heading up to Auckland for Alice in Chains next month, very much looking forward to that.  Also seeing Jordan Peterson in Wellington in a couple of weeks.  While not a concert, I'm sure a lot of what he has to say will be music to my ears :)

Interestingly, I was with a guy in the VIP area who had been to *18* of his concerts. I am a big fan (His music was the soundtrack to a pretty mixed happiness youth), but 18 is getting toward crazy town. He was a fairly young German guy and he had a meal with the crew the night before. I guess if you make it co-incide with a holiday around the world would be kind of interesting, however his set was pretty much word for word identical to other concerts recently)

I expect this concert to go right up there with the very best I've seen. I felt sorry for some people who's relatively expensive seats had pretty poor or non existent views. His stage was very wide and had large obstructive structures both sides.

I particularly enjoyed the black and white videos that played of the Live concert and the mashup videos where they showed different parts of the stage in quick succession (I am sure there is a technical name for this but I can't recall it).

We got quite a few texts from people we knew in the crowd because we spent a fair bit of time on the big screens ourselves being in the front row...

The acoustics were very good I think, better than Spark Arena for sure. Not as good as the o2 or the Paris venue.

I think that Mission site would make a fabulous version of the Hollywood Bowl.

That venue has awesome acoustics. I saw Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy there and I've never heard live sound so good.
