I am heading off to the US shortly and I am keen to hear from any recent travellers about their experience with prepaid data plans in the US.

I understand Vodafone and Telecom have special roaming prices, but I am only keen data - preferably, unlimited data in the US. What are my options?

Thanks in advance.

Update: Just need it for 30 days, including some time in Honolulu!

A friend used StraightTalk (ATT Reseller) last time he was over in the US - Seemed to work fine, ordered the Sim online and got it delivered to his first hotel http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/shop/serviceplans

Awesome, unfortunately I am leaving very shortly and may not be able to get this done before I arrive.

Any other recommendations would be great. I heard from a friend (who can't remember the details, sadly) that he had an unlimited plan when he visited the US a few years' back.

Hopefully there are other options out there?

I don't know about unlimited data, but I have an AT&T SIM that I used for one week in USA at the turn of this month, all activated and with a current $40 pack (gives 500MB of data for the month).

I was in the US for 3 weeks last March, went into an AT&T store and got a prepaid pack for $59 I think it cost. 3GB of data lasted well..
