I am just about to list a vehicle for sale on TM. I was wondering if any one had other suggestions of places to sell a vehicle in NZ?.

I assume that TM has this pretty much to itself, as they are charging $88 for the privilege of listing with them. ($39 listing $49 Success fee)

Either that or parked on the road with a sign on it, if the council allows it. TM fees are pretty cheap considering what you would lose if you traded it or took it to the auction.

But they have a monopoly and they Know it!

$88 to sell a $3,000 vehicle by Auction...
yet I can list a $11,000 vehicle as a classified and costs $78??

I had an old trailer to sell, only means possible on TM was to list at a cost same as a car, ended up scrapping it for zero cost/return just to get rid of it, would have preferred to get $20 for it and have someone make good use of it but not at $80 or whatever it was at the time

comparing apples and oranges there

3k car is $59 for a classified vs $79 for the 11k car
3k car is $88 for an Auction vs $88 for the 11k car

It all depends on what/how you want to sell

I generally go for the path of least resistance and pfaffing around which  9 times out of 10 is trade in.

I thought about listing my spare car on Trademe, but the fees were too high for expected return.
In the end, sold to Turners as a "trade-in" and got bugger all for it.
Last I saw it sold via auction for 10x the trade-in price I got for it.
