SJB:

Some of those Prime Rock docos are just great.

My personal favorite was Genesis and the Beach Boys was pretty good too.

The Pink Floyd one was very emotional.

Inside Chernobyl's Mega Tomb - BBC4 iPlayer

Documentary which follows the construction of a trailblazing 36,000-tonne steel structure to entomb the ruins of the nuclear power plant destroyed in the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. It films close up with the team of international engineers as they race to build the new structure before Chernobyl's original concrete sarcophagus - the hastily built structure that covers the reactor - collapses.
Built to last just 30 years, the temporary sarcophagus is now crumbling, putting the world at risk of another release of radioactive dust. Radiation levels make it impossible for workers to build the new shelter directly over the old reactor, so engineers are erecting the new megastructure - taller than the tower of Big Ben and three times heavier than the Eiffel Tower - to one side and will then face the challenge of sliding the largest object ever moved on land into place over the old reactor.

India's Frontier Trains - Netflix

The series rides several short run border crossing lines around India. Slow narration and nice music and atmospherics meeting people.

Icarus. Fascinating look into the world of Russian doping. Some of it is full on KGB spy stuff. Very entertaining and well worth a watch. It's currently on Netflix.

Just watched the Aviation episode of the "Making NZ" doco series on Prime.

It was a pretty Air NZ centric view of aviation in in NZ from the 80's onwards I'd have to say. No mention of AnsettNZ and the huge impact they had on business travel. The only competing airlines to get a mention were Kiwi (who lasted all of 12 months) and Jetstar. No mention of Origin Pacific and their regional airline network, until they got shafted by Qantas.

The early years stuff was quite good, but overall I ended up disappointed.

Yep, all of them are worth watching, although the one on the maple syrup theft sits a bit weirdly alongside the others.

Particularly enjoyed the episode on Scott Tucker and the payday loan scandal. I'd never heard of him or the scandal prior to this. He, his wife and mates certainly make a good attempt at playing innocent! Interested to read later that Tucker has earlier convictions that they didn't mention in the doco.

I uts enoyed wtahcing Flinbt Town.  Not a cheery watch, pretty grim.  But provided some insight.  If you liked 'the wire', then it's worth a look.

Is that the one about Flint, Michigan?

98 sworn officers for a city of 100,000 people, majority living under the poverty line, high crime rate, yep a recipe for disaster.

I enjoyed the Scott Tucker one too. I know what you mean about him trying to portray how he and his buddies did nothing wrong. I laughed watching his race cars get wheeled out.

The pharmaceutical one made me sick. Couldn't believe how bad it it got and still is! That one was disgusting to watch.
