Excerpt

"Police have been patrolling the area in case any of the suspected poachers survived."

I feel those officers are better served talking to schoolchildren on how Police are good, or perhaps doing the weeds in the town centre. Much more worthwhile and productive

I hope the poor lions didn't get indigestion!

This reminds me of a news article I read years ago. Some muppet in Arizona cut down one of those iconic tall desert cacti they have there. It toppled over and killed him.

My boys (seven and 10) were surprisingly happy to hear this on the news this morning - the older one suggested it wouldn't be a bad thing if the same fate had befallen this woman.

I quite enjoyed this comment from a reddit discussion on it:

Lion community sends a clear message to Rhinos: "We got your back."

Related news: New Death penalty for poachers in Kenya.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/africa/poachers-kenya-wildlife-death-penalty-capital-punishment-najib-balala-a8349966.html

Wildlife poachers in Kenya will face the death penalty, the country’s tourism and wildlife minister has reportedly announced.

Najib Balala warned the tough new measure would be fast-tracked into law.

Existing deterrents against killing wild animals in the east African nation are insufficient, Mr Balala said, according to China’s Xinhua news agency.

So in an effort to conserve Kenya’s wildlife populations, poachers will reportedly face capital punishment once the new law is passed.

Would love to see this law rolled out across the rest of Southern Africa too.

It's unlikely to make much difference if the poacher is facing death as an alternative.

There are millions of citizens there who are not poaching and not dying so that's not necessarily true.

Well the Lions have certainly helped the Rhinos by eating 3 poachers. Thats 3 less poachers to poach again. What difference if its man or lions doing the execution? Same result IMO!
