I despise the dairy industry in NZ (not farming). Their argument for our stuff going overseas is that they get more money for it overseas, but how can that be when you can buy NZ cheese in a supermarket in the UK for 30-50% less than buying the same IUY(&#^)$R^)(*$ here.

How much of that is on the supermarkets tho? We know they are screwing us over massivly.

I am not sure about that. Having said that, I'd struggle to understand how they can get the cheese to the other side of the world, with shipping costs being what they are, and still sell dairy for less than we buy it from supermarkets here.

I'd love to know what a 1KG of cheese is sold to supermarkets here vs to supermarkets in the UK.

Where are all the stockists of Old Spice in NZ?

Old Spice is no longer sold in NZ or Australia according to P&G.

UK does not have VAT tax on supermarket food. NZ has GST tax on supermarket food.

I'd guess average supermarket margins in UK are smaller with the larger scale compared to NZ.

One may find its about transportation costs and economies of scale.

Given that cask wine is well under a dollar a drink, is there really any need to get into the Old Spice any more?

If Trump hikes Tarrifs on our exports, by at least 20%, will that mean our local prices will be more attractive and we can expect better local pricing since it wont be as attractive to export?

Seems like a win win. I know if you are an exporter you might feel a bit hard done by, but I am struggling to feel much sympathy given how little care they have shown NZ, esp in dairy.

Or, local prices are increased to cover the tarrif costs so exporters can still be competitive in the US and still make a profit 🤔

Good news! NZ doesn't export any dairy to the US so it won't make a difference.

It'll just move to another market. The global commodity price is the global price, if they get a couple of percent less it won't flood the local market with cheap meat.

Do protestors not have day-jobs?

Thanks for explaining "plethora".

It means a lot.

Lots of people have flexible hours or are willing to take time off for a cause they believe in.
