They're useful when multiple people access the dishwasher, especially in office situations and for dual washer setups. We have dual dishdrawers and since there are only 2 of us we usually only wash a load every couple of days. The magnets make it much easier to keep track of drawer status.

I never knew this was a thing until now... are they even worth the effort of having to remember to flip them every single time you use the dishwasher, vs. just looking inside on the rare occasion that you need to check?
I keep meaning to get one as my son seems incapable of opening the door to check if dirty or clean so just leaves his dishes in or more usually by the sink.
I'm recalling the doublesided magnet type was a pain to use. Because I have short fingernails it was always a scrabble to grip it and unstick it. So..
I've decided I like the sliding type.

allan: How does Harvey Norman sustain the level of newspaper advertising that it does? Today's "The Post" has 14 full size pages of HN adverts spead through it and barely a day goes by without 4-6 pages.
I think these days the cost of advertising in traditional print media is extremely cheap

When I so much as put my hand on the dishwasher before I can even open it [someone] tells me "IT'S DIRTY!" or "IT'S CLEAN!". It will be worth it ; )

I may yet climb down and order through one of those services. They are such a lottery I feel the need to order several things at once to make sure I get one useful thing out of it.
Anyway.. my new plan is stopping by two dollar shops and asking detective style - do you have one of these? [shows photo of slider type]
