MadEngineer:

Why isn’t there a French Vanilla Chocolate Chip ice cream?

I don't know but there isn't real French vanilla ice cream in New Zealand these days, with a couple of exceptions. French vanilla requires eggs (that's why the ice cream is yellow) and not many companies make it properly (and that's not the big ones obviously).

^ That explains a lot. I got hooked on the flavour as a kid when some family friends served some out of a circular tub that I'd never seen before.  I suspect that was the real stuff.

Quick question for the team! If you were buying a I phone and it had a battery replacement removing the price form the equation , would you more inclined to buy it or less  inclined?

The reason I ask is I quite often see buyers of phones asking if the phone had any work done ? screens battery's...

If I were buying an older generation iPhone I would prefer to buy one that hadn't been opened up for any reason (battery or screen). I may still go ahead and get the battery replaced if it's state of health was low but at least then I would know who did the work. If you're looking to sell and wondering if you should get the battery replaced first then I would say no. You won't get that money back in the resale price.

More inclined if there was a receipt for replacement with a genuine manufacturer's battery from an officially certified repair agent, but that may actually cost more than the increase in price you would get.

If it was a battery replacement from the guy at the mall, or a screen replacement I would not touch it.

If there was a receipt from an actual apple authorized place replacing the battery, that would alleviate all those concerns but TBH there is no way I would be shopping for a phone that is so old that it had to have its battery replaced. Those are for getting for children who will break or lose whatever they are given anyway.

The price has a lot to do with it because if it was really cheap then it may not matter too much. But if higher priced, you want to make sure that it has been done with original Apple parts via one of their service companies IMO. I don't think Apple sell their batteries in NZ to allow you to just swap it out yourself. For an iphone just relacing the battery can be $235 with Apple according to their estimate calculator which IMO is a crazy price.

As above, if not legit then no.  So many weird things can happen if not done correctly.  One example I've seen is the maximum screen brightness becoming reduced.  Who knows if that was due to the battery or if they broke the original screen during the process.

What's this mystery felt-like material that comes included in packs of vaccuum cleaner bags?  It's not a filter AFAICT since that comes in a separate plastic cartridge.

It's a replacement pre-filter.

Is it only for some models?  There's nowhere in our Nilfisk Coupe Neo where it could possibly go.

Edited to add: OK, found the manual, it's hidden in a compartment under/behind the dust bag.

Ours have a 2 piece plastic frame behind the bag that sandwiches the material. Stops big stuff going through motor.

Hah! New appliances: reading... sorry... studying each and every page of the manual is the best part of the unboxing process for me.
