A satisfied monkey never notices the lion sneaking up on him. Dissatisfaction keeps us looking around for something better.

What is the silvery brown metallic stuff on the store bought fancy lettuce? Sometimes on the leaves usually on the base. I used to think it was slug slam.

Pearlite growing medium. Derived from obsidian ?

Little chips about 2-4mm, looks like mica chips, refracts light in rainbow bands.

Very light weight, like Styrofoam. Hence why it doesn't rinse off that easily. Just floats in rinse water.

We've booked economy international flights with Qantas and the tickets show bags as "30K".

Checking on their website it shows that the total baggage allowance is 30Kg.  This is however stated on their page for checked luggage.  On their page for carry on luggage it states you can have 7Kg.

My interpretation of this is you could have a 7Kg carry on and 23 checked.  My wife however interprets this as being allowed 30Kg checked and also 7Kg carry on (plus a purse or slim man-bags...), for a total of 37Kg.

Who's correct?

Even if she is wrong, she is right. Even if every scientist in the world can prove she is incorrect, but she claims she is right, she is right..

How do I know when I am wrong? My wife has a different opinion to me :)

Your wife.

That entire page relates to checked baggage only:

So the 30kg checked is in addition to carry on which is covered on separate page.

Also for Qantas, you are allowed a personal item in addition to your 7kg carry on.

When a man says something in a forest, and nobody is there to hear it, is he still wrong?

Note that it is a 30kg allowance.  Which can be spread across multiple bags
As opposed to other airlines which say you are allowed X pieces of luggage up to Y kg.

I had to take a guitar with me last year, and the Travel Agent recommended Qantas because of this.
Suitcase + Solid Guitar Case were < 30kg - so were covered by this.
As opposed to having to purchase an 'extra piece of luggage' for a ticket on another airline.

If his wife says so, then yes! :)

In case you are wondering, there is no forest a married man can go to where his wife won't hear him speaking :)

Depending where you're flying. If you're going to the US, it's back to the piece concept.

Also, wow those excess baggage charges! It would be legitimately cheaper to pay for Qantas Club to get extra baggage than pay for another bag for two people each way!

Why did the cones and signs go back out, when no roadworks appear to have commenced?

And the related:

Why are the cones and signs still out, when no roadworks is actually being done?

Why have they started new roadworks just down the road from the incomplete ones where the cones and signs are still out?
