Maybe the answer should be: “after x showers” rather than “after x days”.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I often shower twice a day (regular exercise) so I always have two towels on rotation as I find one towel doesn't dry overnight. Nothing worse than trying to dry yourself with a damp towel. Both towels go in the wash weekly and are replaced by two more towels to enter the rotation.

On the subject of when are they retired. Once every year or two my wife cleans out the cupboards and I come home to a pile of old towels that have now been donated to garage duty for the dirty, oily jobs. Some times I get in trouble when she finds one of the "good" towels in the garage and its alway my fault. I used to argue but after 23yrs I now know its a futile exercise so I just cop it and beg for forgiveness.

Old towels here get used for cat duty.  Despite not being a ginger he has no fear of water and comes in absolutely soaking wet when it's raining, fur plastered to his body.

I need to build a travel guide interaction site nonprofit, like a forum. I have not used Discourse but it seems to be all the go! or would you stick to likes of Flarum?

On the subject, a related question would be "when do you toss a towel"?  No matter how much you pay for them they all seem to go threadbare after awhile and/or turn into 60 grit sandpaper.

Laundry treatment has an effect. Front load short wash is gentlest, agitator top load is hardest. But tumble drying really hammers them.

After wiping up an oily or paint mess what happens to them?

Screw them up in a tight ball and pack them in with the other oily rags in the corner.  You need a new garage right?

Paint would be discarded. Oil, Hang them on the washing line and hit them with the jet washer to get rid of most of it. Then they go in the washing machine but only with other garage towels. There is no mixing of garage towels with any other laundry.

How much homework does your first year high school student get each day? It feels like my daughter gets 4 hours a night.

I think 4 hours is a lot. Usually we had 1-2 Hours of homework, not every night (3 days a week on average), and we were encouraged to spend 30 minutes a day revising the lessons we were taught.

If she finishes at 3:30pm and takes 30 minutes to ride home, she is essentially busy till 7pm, excluding dinner/afternoon tea.  She was given (so she says) 8 hours over the weekend.

That excludes Chores, after school activities like Sport, free time, etc etc.

That seems excessive.  Is it every night or just prior to exams or during a project?  There should be a school booklet that talks about this with advice on homework.  Check with your school and ask them how many hours they should be doing and if it's reasonable.

Last year my year 9 only had to complete what wasn't finished in class. They didn't have any specific homework and just brushed up ahead of known tests/assessments and reviewed them when they got them back. It was much less than intermediate (years 7 & 8) with their booklets of required and optional tasks to complete each term.

So far in year 10 it's looking much the same as year 9 and they still have time for plenty of out of school activities..
