Bit of an update been arguing with the retailer and the manufacturer. Out of the blue I got a call this week from the appliance service to say they will fix at their cost . Not a bad outcome however I had to buy a new machine as we just couldn’t go this long without one. We did our kitchen up around for same time . So far I have had to replace the range hood , ceramic top. My fridge now sounds like It’s dying now as well with a compression issue . On top of that the freezer slides attached to the freezer for the draw are disintegrating I can’t believe how crap products are these days. Consumer again says 11 years for a fridge so here goes around 3 . This is really stressing me at this time of year

What brand is that fridge?. I now stick with F&P for fridges, as I have had good luck with their reliability over the years, even though they now don't make them in NZ, the design of some models is still very similar.  There are so many no name brands out there these days and IMO it is false economy to buy them.

It’s an LG they sold it to us as good quality with 10 year warranty on the compressor, even if I get the compressor fixed have no idea how to fix the freezer fittings . I’ve never seen anything like it normally the draws may crack not the actual freezer. We went with the F& P 10kg washing machine for that reason to replace the Electrolux one . I’m thinking same for the fridge freezer . I think we paid around $1600 on sale for the LG. Lesson learnt I think just frustrating. It makes me think should only buy products and expect them to last 5 years anything over that is a bonus. I would better just buying cheap appliances and just swap them out mabey . This is my hob after 4 years again Westinghouse (Electrolux ) should have claimed this as well. The retalier again said yup 5 years is reasonable

Finally an update after what’s seems a life time, today a new washing machine turned up at my door. It turns out took 6 weeks to get the parts they went to install them and the drum was cracked so they said uneconomical to repair. I now have a new washing machine that I want to sell as we had to buy one as this took months to resolve. There is no paper work it’s just arrived , does the warranty restart from today and who is responsible for the warranty? I went to the retailer who basically said there is no paper work as it’s a replacement ? . Shouldn’t they give me paper work as they are where I brought from in the first place?

Warranty is from the original purchase date.

I ended up negotiating with the retailer and LG as they wouldn’t budge . In the end we settled on a new fridge at $600 for the LG 420 which retails around $1800 shows the mark up on appliances . I think I got it at cost price. Noel lemmings just had a sale on the same fridge at $997 and still would of made a profit .I know what you mean about retailers this one is new bolds which are normally pretty good but I think next time I will do more research as I think they were wrong recommending Electrolux and LG and the beko induction hob . I’m not overall impressed with that appliance either

Thank you it was out of warranty and a CGA claim , really as it’s a new replacement it should at least have a manufacturers warranty. If it brakes again in a months time there is no recourse
